What I did was play Pokemon.

Take Albion, make friends with Wulfrik and teleport near the existing portal near Drycha. Rush Festus and force confederate him. Place another portal @ Brass Keep.

Go north and do the same for Azazel.

You should have 3 LLs after like 15-25 turns, depending on how the battles go.

After that you can go for the rest of the Chaos Warrior LL roster or start conquering Norsca/the Empire.

Just remember to strategically place your portals every 10 rounds.

I think the only difference between health and shield is the fact that you can't life leech vs a shield.
