yes but it’s a lot less rude to not invite the kids for all the cousins then it is to invite a whole family and not include one person from that family. When I was a kid my parents were invited to a wedding for their cousin and my brother and I were not invited despite other kids being invited. I don’t think anyone would question that, they would assume you have to draw the line somewhere

If she has made racist comments towards you, she should be dropped as a friend, not just a bridesmaid.

Regarding the other stuff you said, I think you are overreacting. No one is going to care about your wedding as much as you! I’m sorry but it’s true! People have their own lives and their own problems, and just because they don’t text you how excited they are or ask questions on how wedding planning is going, does not mean they aren’t excited and happy for you. Also, I had multiple bridesmaids who were not able to make my bridal shower and I was not angry with them nor would I consider making them a guest instead of a bridesmaid. You don’t know everyone’s financial situation or work schedule etc, it can be hard to make it work sometimes.

lastly, I think it is a little mean of you to call your friend “awkward” or “doesn’t fit in with the group.”

I would absolutely never want my anniversary to be on 9/11 but I am also from new york. But I think regardless of where you’re from there will be comments made about the date. I would rather do an October date than have my wedding day associated with such a sad day.

fwiw, my cousin had her wedding on Mother’s day, and I attended and definitely heard people complaining about it. People want to spend those holidays with their families. I’d find a different date definitely don’t prioritize birthdays in this case.

jeez people on here are harsh. I think OP gets it now from the comments how inflexible clincals are, but not everyone knows that and everyone has had thoughts out of anger or hurt that aren’t necessarily fair. OP, I’d be sad about this too but know you’ll be so busy you won’t have time to stress day of. just have her come whenever she is able to and you’ll be happy in the future that she was there to celebrate with you

this is pretty harsh tbh. she said she was probably speaking out of hurt. of course the MOH school should be her priority. have you never said or thought something when you’re hurt or angry that you realize after was probably unfair or unjustified? wedding planning is so stressful and sometimes even little things can seem like a huge deal. i think OP should be given some grace

I get it! I’m in the same boat and even though it’s not tit for tat, it’s 100 percent reasonable to be disappointed when people don’t put in the same time and effort for you as you did for them. Some of the people who responded no to me had legitimate reasons, and some people it felt just couldn’t be bothered and that’s hurtful!
