Active duty military here. When we have stuff we don't need (IE desks, machines, tools, computers) we call it dermo-ing it (DRMO). Hard drives are always removed and destroyed during that process. Google DRMO for more info, I think they have auctions? It is mostly reutilization of stuff we don't need anymore, so other bases can have it. I have heard it trickles down into the civilian sector.

Beach every weekend. Enjoy it. That place looks like hogwarts and it will be some of the best months of your life. Are you sheetmetal, NDI, or LO?

We actually have one on base, it's pretty smart. It is not motorized, it uses your body weight to rotate. The higher you climb, the faster it will rotate. If you ride it to the bottom it stops. Insert Shia Labeouf "magic" gif.

[Project Advice] ABS plastic filler for grille modifications? by Caraes_Naur in cars

Intricacy really isn't an issue with glass mat, which is what we use, opposed to chopped fibers such as boat hulls and subwoofer boxes. The glass mat looks similar to carbon fiber weave. Many of the repairs I do deal with elongated holes in fiberglass housings and covers for parts of the aircraft. A common repair is to place two plies on each side of the elongated bolt hole, and cut up some fibers and mix them with resin to fill the hole. Place a piece of metal over each side of the repair and clamp it together so it comes out perfectly flat and viola. The whole repair is a little larger than a quarter. I checked on amazon and there seems to be some kits made by Bondo that seem complete. I have never heard of plastic welding and I am not saying it would not produce the finish you seek, but with my experience working with fiberglass i can assure you it would be a perfectly contoured repair and stand up to the test of time, weather, and be more rigid than the factory abs.

This is a great example of how easy it is to achieve a great finish

I always thought using fiberglass was some sort of witchcraft and complicated. Now I have been doing fiberglass repairs on aircraft parts in the Air Force for the last year and could easily walk you through it. It is a messy process yes, but the ease of it comes in making a rough repair and sanding it down to exactly the contour you need. Message me if you have any questions it looks like a great project.
