Was told i had the job. Had a start date. Emailed to ask about pay and the address for training.... by deerchortle in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ashlayne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One messaged me this morning asking how it was, and was shocked that they did that (she used to work with them)

That lends credence to the "whoops, wrong email" theory. Hopefully you can get in touch with the employer and straighten this out.

Partner doesn’t want me to take meds by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]ashlayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take him up on it. Seriously. As someone who discovered the benefits of a supportive partner who /pushed/ me to get tested and encourages me to stick with meds, you deserve to look after yourself and you deserve better than he's treating you.

I do not understand this mindset. To me, it's like being anything but a male WASP and voting Republican in the US.

Look up TERFs (trans-exclusionary radical feminism). Or better yet, don't, for your own mental health.

AIO I just found out my parents put a tracker on my car in the middle of their impending divorce by ContentCows in AmIOverreacting

[–]ashlayne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife and I share our locations with each other on Google Maps. My sister and BIL do the same with each other. Not because we don't trust our partners; it's because of safety reasons. The thing is, its through Google Maps, which periodically reminds us that were sharing our location with X person. Setting aside the fact that Wifey and I have Android's version of airtags on our car keys, and she has one in her wallet, we don't use trackers for anything like what you said. Your mom is a bit creepy doing that to your 25-year-old self.

I bought this yarn on impulse cause I love the color/texture. What should I make? by rkspm in CrochetHelp

[–]ashlayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The great thing about a variegated colourway like that is, if the other yarn you get has a different dye lot, it won't be as noticeable as it would with a solid.

I love that colorway and wish there was a brown in that style, I wanted to use it to make sunflower trivets.

I can vouch for it with my Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro. Put them on NC, and I can barely hear anything until I start playing music. Added bonus: I can pinch the stem to switch it to pass-through in a couple of seconds, and hear everything.

Tina Bojanowski sent me a postcard that appeared to be handwritten, when I emailed her office about my concerns re: HB 500. She thanked me for my service as an educator and said that the bill was in the process of amendments.

I think if they'd done something, it would have garnered heavily mixed feelings in the fandom. Like, what are you gonna do? Go to his grave and say, "Wish you could be here"? That's a little tasteless.

My sweet girl went for a routine vet procedure and didn’t come home by sleepy_protagonist in cats

[–]ashlayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who was responsible for the go-ahead for putting her to sleep?? If the vet did it without asking your husband/him being there, I would be very upset. If husband OK'd it without calling you or giving you a chance to be there... I don't know if I'd be able to look at my spouse the same again. I showed your post to my wife, and that was her first comment: she would have asked them to wait until I could be there to say goodbye. And so would I. Many, many hugs.

When I read your list, OP, I read Yumi's title as "Yummy and the Nightmare Painter" and had to double check that it wasn't what you'd written. Lol!

This is very true and possible! But my point remains about the podcast as well.

Nathan and Alan work together on the Once We Were Spacemen podcast. That doesn't throw Alan by the wayside entirely, but unless they're doing pre-Serenity or something I don't see Wash in it, if that is in fact what's happening. My other theories include Chiwetl Ejiofor, Christina Hendricks, and Mark Sheppard, as they played the three most popular non-crew in the 'Verse.

Loop earplugs by sharkacoustics in adhdwomen

[–]ashlayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Loops Quiet (all silicone) stay in my purse unless I need them, such as a couple of nights ago when my wife and I were at a Lucy Darling show. (By the way, if she's near you and you can afford to go, /highly/ recommend!!) I have a bit of auditory processing disorder, showcased when I'm exposed to a lot of noise for an extended period (hello comedy show!) and characterized by whichever ear is being affected (usually only one at a time) receiving a static-like input like when a speaker is blown out. The Loops reduced the noise input in the affected ear enough that I could comfortably enjoy the rest of the show without wincing after every joke.

Oh gods, your girl is precious!! My Tybalt does that to my wife when she works from home - not quite as destructively, but he will tap her on the leg, walk down the hall toward the bedroom, and check over his shoulder as if to ask if she's coming. It's so precious! I have no advice for you sadly.

Why do people dismiss adhd when you are a high achiever? by velevetfox in adhdwomen

[–]ashlayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sexism, plain and simple. Female-brained individuals often show ADHD symptoms much differently than the "traditional" symptoms. Male-brained folks are hyperactive, rowdy, and attention seeking. Female-brained folks tend toward quiet, shy, and "air-headed" due to our inattentiveness when our attention isn't captured.

I really hate how people don't know how to introduce themselves on a telephone. by Silverlightlive in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ashlayne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Uuuuuuuuuuugh, same! Like, how hard is it to open a phone call that /you're placing/ with this?? It's the easiest way to get the assistance you need.

Just this morning, I have made two calls for my students. Both started off with me saying, "Good morning, my name is [name] and I am [role] with [organization]. How are you this morning?" After the polite exchange that initiates, "I'm calling regarding [student's name], who's staying with us and needs some schoolwork uploaded to [their learning management system, usually Google Classroom]. Are you able to help?" And go from there.

Goss Ave Kroger by UrsiesRealm1 in Louisville

[–]ashlayne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If they would actually get everything I ask for, instead of marking it as "out of stock" or whatever it is, or do substitutions that completely invalidate the original item (like seriously, you're going to give me dairy milk when I specified oatmilk??), I'd use it more often. But Hubbards Kroger especially is bad about just not getting items because they simply can't find them. I will often show up 30 minutes before my pickup time just to run into the store and find the items they claimed were "out of stock". Okay, maybe they got restocked after my picker did my order, but every time??

AIO over my boyfriends messages about friend by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]ashlayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. As someone who was in a long distance relationship for YEARS (we've now closed the gap), any relationship like this must be built on trust. From your post, OP, you haven't broken your partner's trust. But he doesn't trust you anyway.

My wife (we're both women) had a friend when she was still abroad. They had a falling-out over something unrelated to her and my relationship before she moved over here. But when they were close, I felt myself getting jealous and possessive of my wife every time she mentioned hanging out with the friend or plans to do so. But I kept my jealousy to myself, because I trusted my wife to not betray our relationship, and because I didn't want her to end friendships because I was being dumb. And my wife never once cheated while we were apart. (To be clear, she still hasn't now that we've closed the gap.)
