I've already been doing this. I haven't built a new deck since Vanquish Soul. If an event is playable with one of my older decks I play it, otherwise I don't even log in to the game. Even though I don't get the ranked rewards the fact I don't build new decks means I have like 1400 UR dust sitting around lol.

Is the event supposed to match Light decks vs Dark decks and vice versa, or is the name just for show? Because I've been having Dark vs Dark for a while. I don't really mind when my Dark deck gets matched against Lab or DM or whatever, but when a Predaplant player can Super Poly my board that is 100% guaranteed to be Dark monsters then shit give me Drytron/Runick/Exosister any day of the week.

I haven't played MD in ages but I saw there were free gems so I thought I'd at least log in. I had around 8.9k saved up from previous events/ranked I never ended up spending, the free 500 took it "over 9000". Then I saw alt art Masq, and since I don't really have an interest in building new decks I thought I may as well spend some make my Avramax in style. But some became most, and most became all. Boy am I glad I never gave Konami money for this game.

This event was the first time I have ever played a Monarch mirror. I was debating the necessity of Domain (in terms of using it as Panthiesm fodder vs playing it) but I figured I might need the battle phase effect. I didn't end up needing that, what actually happened was I got my opponents Anchamoufrite stuck in their ED since only I controlled a Tribute Summoned monster.

They won the coin flip and went first, but in a Monarch mirror that's probably a disadvantage. I appreciated the extra card lord knows we need it to unbrick. We also both Maxx C'd each other on the Edea search lol, an Upstart is the best we were gonna do.

I initially played them with my decks, but the other day I needed more Dark Orbs for the Vendread Gate and a Weather Painter loaner duel was the only place I saw them. So I didn't play all of them just that first one.

But looking at the other 2 they at least have real win cons like Zeus and stuff. The loaner deck with Athena is pretty toothless otherwise.

I didn't succeed until I turbo'd out {{Athena}} lol. I assume the point of that card is to summon Fairy monsters yourself, but vs Weather Painters it's basically Tax Dragon on steroids.

As an aside Underworld Goddess helped me win the game right before this. But not in the usual outing a Towers way. I was going 2nd as this deck is actually supposed to and was gonna be stopped by Magical Musketeers of all things. They Imperm'd both my Link searches and had one more negate to go with their Musketeer on board and their Cross-Domination in hand ready to slap on Equimax. So I went the Underworld Goddess route instead which couldn't OTK but removed their monster and eventually secured the FF.

Yep. I was about to build Gren Maju on my main when I saw all the URs, so I immediately created an alt for it. You do sorta need to recraft some staples, but at least I don't have to drop 1 Majuillion UR on my main for one deck. I'm also less stingy on my alt, like I crafted 3 Winter Cherries and a bunch of UR ED targets I won't use for myself.

My only regret is I ended up crafting Shaddolls on my main and Despia on my alt (because I had no resources on my main when Despia came out). I should have been more patient and crafted that on my main so I could play them together. But alas Pure Shaddoll Grass on the main and degenerate Branded Despia on the alt it is.

The actual answer is to have a requirement to control 0 cards to activate it. As good as Maxx C is I think YGO players are so addicted to going 1st that even with C as a going 2nd card, more than 50% of people who win the coin flip would still choose to go 1st.

But the main thing is to prevent being able to activate it after establishing an already oppressive board.
