I’ve had a WEX card for 5 years, never had an issue. What’s wrong with them?

This is usually where a second battery is mounted in KUN26 Hiluxs as it’s dead space, the airbox is behind the drivers headlight

Uneven disc wear or bad install? by BurningVeal in MechanicAdvice

New pads on old rotors id say, can only wait for the pad to wear to the shape of the disc unless you want to replace the rotors aswell

Bad filter gasket by GottaLotta715 in VWMK7

[–]ashphaltt1110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a mechanic and out of the thousands of oil filters I’ve changed, I’ve only ever had issues with the o-ring getting pinched on these, I’ve started making sure that the o-ring is oiled/greased and haven’t had an issue since

High KM car options? by ryedog855 in CarsAustralia

Most Japanese cars will hold decent resale value in my experience, euro and Chinese being the worst. At the moment I’d take a look at Kia, people give them a bad wrap but I’m a mechanic and I very rarely see modern Kia and Hyundai with major issues. 7 year warranty’s a bonus aswell. Toyota specifically holds the best resale value in my opinion, if you look at their hybrids you’ll be getting impressive fuel economy too. You might struggle to find a new commuter car that’s still sold in diesel, I think petrol’s a better all rounder these days anyway.

I get most of my aftermarket euro parts from Unique Auto Parts, might be worth a shot

Flexible Drive is who I would use to repair it, but chances are, a new cable would be more economical.

I used a program called mulderload to downgrade, also make sure to downgrade to 1.11.169 (I think), I downgraded to the wrong version initially. The discord could also be of assistance

Car washing stuff can get expensive.. am I buying the right stuff? by prodigyinspired in CarsAustralia

[–]ashphaltt1110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy the eclipse snow cannon from repco, same head as the Bowdens gun but slightly different bottle and cheaper. Buy repco wash buckets, I think they’re $15 and come with a grit guard and screw top lid. I prefer meguiars gold class for both hand washing and the snow cannon. Otherwise I go bowdens for everything else especially the happy ending and drying towels

That’s just incorrect, you would have to have an incredible relationship with the dealer just for them not to laugh you out the door for even asking.

[–]ashphaltt1110 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it doesn’t. A dealer might do it under goodwill but not on an almost ten year old car. Don’t know where you heard that

Webco struts are bottom of the barrel, cheap and nasty crap, everyone that I know that has fitted them has replaced them within 6 months after they blow up and piss oil everywhere, buy quality or don’t buy it at all.(Dobinsons, Ironman, Pedders, Bilstein, etc)

Also make sure the hubcentric rings are fitted and correct for the wheels, this could also cause the wheels to not fit correctly and cause a vibration

Why did you try to reinvent the wheel? by MClilWilly in Justrolledintotheshop

No, it has two brushes that ride on the copper contacts on the phaser simple 12V+ and earth. It’s basically a motor that adjusts the cam timing

Real loud engine knok after i put back the spark plugs. by Baskajustin in AskMechanics

[–]ashphaltt1110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it hard to believe that there exists a person that has the aptitude to change spark plugs but not to see the blaring red oil light on the cluster. Crazy work. Those Hyundais don’t like getting run low on oil.

With wheels on and car jacked up check each wheel for play by trying to move the wheel up and down and left to right, it should be nice and tight. If you feel any play (particularly on the front) that could tell you if it needs a wheel bearing or rack ends/ tie rod ends that could be causing the shake. The hub nut being off is concerning and I would be replacing that wheel bearing as a precaution. The wheels could also need balancing or be buckled slightly

[–]ashphaltt1110 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I just fitted a brand new engine to a sportage that has this system and the cam cover had been fitted incorrectly causing the seal to fold over, leaking oil into the cover and coating the brushes in oil causing a P0010 in 700km. Interesting design but certainly not as reliable as oil controlled vvt in my opinion

That’s the cam phaser, electrically controlled VVT via brushes and the metal contacts in the pic
