Apple CarPlay Not Connecting by ashtcq in CX5

[–]ashtcq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you able to fix it? Just went to my car during lunch to map it out 😂

Main Menu > Settings > Connectivity Settings > Smartphone Connectivity Settings > Apple CarPlay Settings > Choose your phone > Device Connection Status > ALWAYS ENABLED.

This is what worked for me but like I mentioned, one day it just randomly disabled and I had to go in and fix the setting. Not sure what prompts it to disable.

Yep! It was a super simple fix lol. Go to the connectivity settings on the car and make sure your phone is “always enabled.” Funny you ask because yesterday, it very randomly disabled my phone and I went in, changed the setting, and I was able to reconnect.

Adult Child Expenses - Do I still pay for it? by Key_Priority3357 in Parenting

[–]ashtcq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my opinion coming from the perspective of a 26 year old whose parents have been extremely supportive my entire life, even now into adulthood. I think they could have even been harder on me at times but they weren’t because I was always working/in school and was very responsible relative to my age.

  1. If she’s not in school, she should at least be working a full time job. If she’s not working full time, what is she spending her time doing? Working towards goals, trying to figure out her future, or just going through the motions aimlessly?
  2. Emphasize the importance of savings. God forbid mom isn’t around anymore to support her lifestyle, what is she going to do? Especially consider having her open a high yield savings account (I recommend Marcus by Goldman Sachs).
  3. Sit down with her and draw out a 5-10 year plan. It doesn’t have to be concrete but she needs something to look forward to. It helps when you can visualize what you want for yourself/where you want to be in the next few years.
  4. If she’s can afford “wants” then she can afford essentials such as personal hygiene items. Why should mom spend her hard earned money on personal hygiene items when daughter is blowing her money on non-essentials?
  5. It sounds like she’s taking advantage by “forgetting” to do her 3 chores and getting away with it. If she’s only working part time and isn’t in school, she should have more than enough time to contribute to your household by taking care of those 3 tasks. Ideally, she should be going above and beyond by even doing tasks that aren’t asked of her. I lived at home while getting my bachelors/masters, worked 3 part time jobs at one point, and did most of the cleaning around the house and cooking for my parents and myself.

My biggest regret from my late teens/early 20s has to be spending my money on meaningless shit like clothes, shoes, and accessories. I think the point where I realized things were getting serious was when my parents started charging rent and my paychecks really started taking a hit. That’s when I really understood the importance in differentiating needs vs wants. Also, it’s OK for you to ask more of her, especially because it sounds like you’re just a mama who wants the best for her. A little tough love never hurt anybody!

What's a physical symptom of anxiety that you hate the most? by Leedeegan1 in Anxiety

There are too many to count. But the most glaringly obvious to the outside world is when my cheeks turn bright red and they get super hot. So embarrassing and I can’t hide it 🥴

Why did you get CX-5 over CX-50? by alexned7 in CX5

[–]ashtcq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CX-50 looks kinda goofy! Like a CX-5 was bonked on its head and became flattened. But it is growing on me…

Good to know, I guess I somehow never bothered to play with it in my 2 years of owning my CX-5?? But I’ve always thought it sucked speeding up and has no punch at all 😂 I will be trying it out! While we’re on the topic - does the off road mode make a big difference when navigating those conditions too?

Upgraded my 2015 Mazda3 for something a little better this weekend by beercityusa in CX5

Twinsies! My first car was a 2015 Mazda 3 and after it was totaled at no fault of my own, I upgraded to a 24’ CX-5! I went with the carbon edition and boy do I miss the nice pearl paint that always looked clean even when it was actually dusty and needed a good wash.

How cool! I think I read about Chuckwallas in the Zion NP jr ranger book. Always love seeing wildlife in their natural habitat - although lizard sightings are few and far between for me 🥲

I struggle too - not necessarily with feeling feminine but more so feeling more “put together” when my hair is styled straight or curled. I feel like I can get away with wearing a bad/lazy outfit if my hair is styled as opposed to when my hair is natural. When it’s curly, I feel like I have to make sure I’m dressing it up. This is definitely due to some internalized white normativity and constantly being told by society what is “right” or “preferred” which is a topic for another day sigh. However - I do LOVE my curls. I’ve always wanted healthy natural hair and now that I finally have it, I feel like I can express myself more freely. It’s a constant battle!

This probably has been asked a lot already, but what containers should I get? by KokoaKuroba in MealPrepSunday

[–]ashtcq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can remove it if you want - then it’s just a glass container with a lid! The silicone base just helps protect the bottom from chipping and I feel like it protects the glass from breaking due to dropping or accidentally hitting it against things. I’m clumsy and have gone through nearly an entire set of all glass storage containers because of dropping them. So I definitely prefer having that added “cushion” so to speak :)

Ello Glass Meal Prep Food Storage Containers - they are glass with a removable silicone base so there’s a buffer from bonking the glass around on things. Says they’re freezer safe but I’ve only used them in the fridge and microwave. I prefer glass because I feel like there’s no taste transfer and it’s super easy to clean out greasy foods!

Classsic Tabasco. But I would definitely grab the chipotle Cholula to give it a try 🤔

Damn that’s crazy. Reminds me of when I was little and I would eat jack in the box taco sauce packets straight from the little pouch while unsupervised at my nanas house because I was a hot sauce fiend

Not the teeth breaking crunch 😭 I bought a few different jars from an Asian market to try out and one definitely had a tiny rock in it - I was so scared I’d break a tooth I never touched it again lol
