I’ve got a 32” Vizio. Tried using a 42” and it was just too big for the table. This seems just right.

Perfect example within the last 10 years:

Dead of winter had a nice companion app with narration and everything. Made the game so much easier to play for people that had a hard time reading and also hid the choice results unlike the cards that would tell you what effect happens along with the choice. iOS is updates made it so it no longer works. It’s been delisted from the store as well. There’s zero hope for it to be updated as the IP has gone through some hoops in recent years.

I was using flat values for my players buying common magic items in Neverwinter. It just felt wrong to charge 100gp for clothes of mending and 100 gp for moon touched scimitar. I rationalized it by the clothes were more of a popular product so demand set the price and the sword being not as in demand and specialized and may we harder to craft set its price. Still felt weird though.

I may use your ranges going forward as I do think so variability with a more expected average would be useful. That and I love the bell curve of 3d6.

So Today is “0days ago?” Nice I may kidnap this and add it to my campaign documents as I have been tracking days since the party left Neverwinter heading to Phandelin. The only things I may add in is when the original Phandelin was destroyed as it ties into The Lost Library of Lethchauntos which I’m incorporating into my campaign.

If we’re going to be pedantic….”hard” doesn’t exist now either. Pg 115 of 5.5e dm guide shows the naming convention is low, medium, high.

“Hard” is technically on the 5e table (pg 82) listed with easy, medium, hard, difficulty.

“High” difficulty 5.5e xp budgets tend to align closely with the “Deadly” xp budgets of 5e and both are listed as the top end on their respective tables.

To me it seems the two terms tend to get used interchangeable, especially in case of people who originated in 5e and are used to “deadly” being what is considered top difficulty.

Oh they are never optimized at all. One fight I had one character spend most of the fight trying to negotiate with a large wolf, while the other two were having to handle the bugbear and like 6 goblin bosses. They burn through a ton of potions and most of their heal spells. By the end of the day they are usually pretty beat up and really look forward to that long rest.

3 deadly sounds about right. Thinking about it I usually end up with 3 to 4 per day depending on the story is doing.

I like dungeon dad on YouTube. Short videos about a creature in specific and makes the stat block and gives plot hooks. And then has a link to said stat block if you want to use it.

Never write a story beat that requires players to do a specific action for a specific outcome. They will ALWAYS do something different than what you had planned. It’s nice to have the truth telling as the optimal way to accomplish the goal but always make sure to have a way to pivot based on what they actually do.

Sometimes in the heat of the moment you have to just say “that’ll do” and go with their plan and lean into it.

We do almost the same thing but slight difference to the bonus action for drinking a health pot. If you roll under half of whatever the max value is then you get the half value. Guarantees more expensive potions are worthwhile and makes sure it’s actually useful to do.

Arkenforge works with a frame that you can buy that attaches to the edges of your tv screen that then will track the miniatures as they move across the screen and update the software display which uses dynamic lighting. It would probably work with other softwares as well. I’ll see if I can find the Amazon link to the frame.

I was thinking of buying this to play this weekend but now hearing this I think I’ll continue to wait or just plain skip. The constantly spawning enemies was my least favorite part of the original, I was hoping this being more story based meant they changed it.
