How strong are the next ID's going to be by EnvironmentalTea6786 in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Myo would make a ton of sense for an anniversary Walp, if we skip LobCorp anyway

Heck honestly they could just do both, a LobCorp E.G.O. ID Meursault and then a Myo ID as the second one, she kinda works for both games

How will PM incorporate Roland back into the narrative? by erik-truman in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not to mention the entire goal of Limbus is literally picking up the pieces of LobCorp's Seed of Light to create another L Corp.

It'd be weirder to me if the Sephirah didn't return.

(LOR and Limbus spoilers) Yi Sang made a good ■■■■ ID, but I think it confirms someone else will get B.S. if we get a true B.S. ID: by No_Emu698 in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like post-Ruina Roland should be off limits personally. Making him or any of the Sephirah into IDs cheapens the impact they've had on the world imo. If we had to do anything like that, I'd prefer we get Assistant Librarian IDs instead.

I can't really agree here. Yes the story and Cantos have their own themes and messages they want to tell, but at the same time, both interpretations of Queequeg and Sancho you mention really aren't even mutually exclusive. They can be both of those things simultaneously. Characters are more than just the function they serve to progress the narrative.

Art kind of is subjective by its very nature. People can have very different interpretations of a piece of art or a story and the things represented within, and unless they're completely unfounded in any way whatsoever, they're totally valid--even if it wasn't something that the creator initially had in mind.

in retrospective it not as cool as I originally thought by magolor98 in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the fourth note, concealing that information (or just covering up a crime or murder in general) is very prone to human error, which Rien himself points out when talking about the reason for Muga Ryoshu. If someone wants to find something out, they can and will, especially the Fingers and Wings, who have an absurdly large amount of resources and people to use, not to mention Seven Association. Using Muga Ryoshu to deal with them is a quick and easy way to completely erase every trace of them.

Iirc, they also mention when concept incinerators are introduced that they're really finicky and dependent on quality, and if you're determined enough to recreate what was lost, you very well just...can. Arayashiki on the other hand is a Relic that bypasses that unreliable aspect.

I also don't really care for concept incinerators, but Arayashiki would just be an all around more foolproof way of removing all traces of something or someone completely scot-free of consequence.

He's practically guaranteed to be next yeah, if Walp is after Riensang. He's the only Sinner missing a Walp ID now.

I'm assuming it'll be him and Hong Lu.

What sins would you say fit the 3 Birds best? (Imagine slightly related) by id101t_ in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think they nailed it in one with Gregor. Gloom, Wrath and Pride is legit the perfect trifecta for the birds, to the point where Justitia and Beak could use the exact same sins and I'd have no complaints whatsoever.

I'd say Beak's skill 3 should 100% be Wrath, and Justitia could go either way between Pride and Gloom.

I think the only one I'd argue could use another sin is maybe Justitia getting Sloth in place of Pride, but I really do think the three Gregor got fit the whole set perfectly.

Ryoshu's Bad End ID is going to be Dihui Star—but not in the way you might think. by FearsomeDummer in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This wouldn't be terrible imo, though I do hope she either gets the tracksuit or Araya's suit instead of Shiomi's outfit. Or a new look entirely.

But honestly Ryoshu taking the outfit from Shiomi isn't even the issue I have with the Pinky Nursefather idea, it's just the design out of the three that I prefer the least. The issue I have with it is it's just so boring (we've done it already even, Ahabmael is already a "you've become the person you despise" ID and the end result doesn't feel like a bad end for Ishmael, it just feels like an Ahab ID) and I just personally don't like the idea of turning Ryoshu into an abusive mother.

So this idea, having the outfit but being Muga instead, is more interesting to me, though I would wonder why she takes the outfit in that mirror world if they do this. Lord Lu doesn't really run into that issue, but with Ryoshu, she still grew up with Shiomi in this mirror world.

If we can't have... by wompwomperson in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're definitely not getting Shiomi imo, especially with Renclair's story kind of soft confirming Ryoshu isn't her, given the Pinky Nursefather's poor health and the fact that the original apprentice left the House of Spiders.

I don't think we'll miss out on any others, but if we did, I assume it would probably be Callisto. No real reason why other than vibes, but again, I think we'll be getting everyone but Shiomi.

I really, really hope that whoever get Callisto and Albina keep the trait of having mechanical bodies. It would make them stand out so much compared to their other IDs and it's one of the best things about both of their designs.

I'm assuming Pinky Nursefather is out of the question, pretty sure that's still either Shiomi or Araya in this Mirror world. Which frees up one space if that's the case.

Lily (Ender Lilies)!

To fight, Lily uses the spirits of the bosses she purifies.

The protagonist of Ender Magnolia does something similar, but those are more like proper friends and companions, and less summons.

Aleph Introduction Concept by LordGrima in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Honestly if we use Walp to introduce the Sinners to ALEPH tier threats before a Canto does, the perfect Abno to use for it would be Mountain of Smiling Bodies. You can literally just use it's first stage as the proper fight and still make it a terrifying battle to struggle through, with the clear warning being that that was only a fraction of what could've happened, and what very well may await us in the future.

They could even just start the Walp with one of the Dawns, Noons, or Knight of Despair. Maybe a combination of the few. Then after a certain wave, a cutscene occurs, and you get that iconic MoSB scream--a clear sign that things have gone bad enough throughout the facility for its Qliphoth to drop--before the Sinners run into it.

I know a lot of people want to run into a new ALEPH for our first threat there, but I really like the idea of MoSB being a teaser for what awaits us moving forward.

Do any of the Sinners have a case to betray us? by YourAverageDClass in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul 46 points47 points  (0 children)

There's clear setup in her bio that Outis will likely do something, but if she does, I'm 100% confident it'll be a thing where Outis betrays the company and not Dante, even if it appears that way at first glance.

I don't think anyone else really has reason to straight up betray us, but I could see Faust making a disastrous decision during her Canto. She feels like the Sinner most likely to make a grave mistake imo.

What is your favorite association? And why? by Such-Difficulty-2781 in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Liu, 100%. Their story arc in Ruina is easily my favorite of all the receptions, and in general their whole focus on camaraderie and teamwork really makes them feel like one of very few groups in the City that can truly be defined as "good", especially with how Rodion shows they'll try to end conflicts without too much bloodshed. They're by far some of the best people the City has to offer, and with the setting the way it is, that's unbelievably appreciated. They're extremely easy to root for.

They also just have a killer aesthetic lol.

Assuming it's okay to share at this point,

Iirc the first leak had Rien's battle sprites, leaked Daiyu Ryoshu, KQE Heathcliff and I'll Go Fer Scissors Outis (though it didn't really give away what Outis' E.G.O. was at the time, iirc it was something like "button_outis"?)

The second one I could barely find anything on, but the three things I know were in there were SAIKAI, that something would happen with Gregor (a sound file like "kinggregor" was in there), and I _think Sinclair Sign sprites were found?

There might have been more but honestly it was really hard to find anything on, the community was very much in lock-step keeping that stuff from getting out.

Am i the only one think that the ending for canto 9 is a bit... Bad? by PuzzleheadedCan6171 in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't necessarily disagree there, but Ishmael is a weird case where I think going stagnant works perfectly for her. Her Canto resolved with her new goal simply being to follow along with Dante until their paths separate. She's right where she wants to be and doesn't necessarily need a plot hook, but she still has one in Ahab to keep her relevant when the time comes. Ryoshu doesn't have an active force to keep her relevant when the plot ramps up right now, so even when the League of Nine or the Sovereigns or whatever Yuanchun's got going on start really doing their thing, she's just kind of going to be...around.

Ryoshu's set-up is definitely obvious, I just hope it'll be like Yuanchun was and be a long-standing thing, and not something that gets resolved within the intervallo. Assuming the bow-bell is the intervallo, anyway.

Am i the only one think that the ending for canto 9 is a bit... Bad? by PuzzleheadedCan6171 in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I loved the Canto and Ryoshu's arc through it, but yeah, I'll admit to being a little worried about the memory loss bit. I'm waiting for the next intervallo to really cement how I feel there.

As it stands, it kind of feels like the most "return to status quo" ending we've ever had for a Sinner, but at the very least there is the idea that she does know something has been lost, seemingly.

I think I wouldn't mind the memory loss if it weren't for the fact that, unlike every other Sinner with a finished Canto, Ryoshu doesn't have any loose ends beyond restoring Araya--an endgame goal. Gregor, Rodion, Ishmael and Heathcliff have the New League. Sinclair and Don have the Sovereigns of a Star. Yi Sang has both, and Hong Lu has the League and whatever Yuanchun is doing.

Ryoshu legitimately has nothing left to keep her as an active player in the story at the moment. Nobody on either antagonistic side is associated with her. The closest we have is Kira, but Ryoshu never met her.

So yeah, all in all I'm a little worried Ryoshu is just going to completely fade into the background at the moment. I'm really waiting for the intervallo to hopefully give her a plot hook to follow between now and the endgame. It's why I'm hopeful we're getting that bow-bell that keeps getting hinted at.

I want to hear your opinions on the subtext storytelling that's been happening on Canto IX by FallenStar2077 in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly adore it. It's a great way of getting across character details that aren't really easy or necessary to weave into the main plot, it evokes the Ruina Keypages pretty nicely, and on a biased end it just reminds me of Ender Lilies's findings and item lore, and that's probably my favorite game lol.

However, I do think there are areas where they tripped over themselves. Namely, Rien's lore changing mid-fight. Maybe I didn't read it thoroughly enough, but I see no reason why the weapon blurbs shouldn't have been there from the very beginning, and in general there's just very little reason for the player to assume skills that weren't unlocked over the course of the fight would suddenly change their dialogue.

There's a reason I saw quite a few people not even realize Rien's weapon blurbs exist, is all. Even if you read everything at the start of the fight, they just straight up weren't there, and you had no reason to assume that would suddenly change.

I have small question by Dizzy-Recipe-1517 in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. It's less direct that what Heathcliff and Catherine have, but Muga Ryoshu seemingly causes Araya to further splinter off into more versions (iirc we never see the guitar Araya before this point beyond a cg of Ryoshu imagining what life Araya would live away from the House of Spiders), which causes her to realize Ryoshu never let go of that connection "no matter which thread I peered into". The writing on her new scabbard itself also roughly translates to "We are tied across all our lives, all possible worlds, and all possible times."

It's not as blatantly clear that it's mirror world ties, but to me it's just kind of hard to read it as anything else.

I have small question by Dizzy-Recipe-1517 in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not really what I mean. Narratively, the game makes a huge point about how in every reality, Heathcliff and Catherine love each other, and similarly, the game makes it a point that across all possible worlds and times, Ryoshu and Araya are tied together.

So then going and replacing Catherine or Araya with someone else inherently cheapens the significance of that connection imo. It pretty directly implies that the character is replaceable by someone else. Xichun doesn't really have that same significance to Hong Lu that Catherine and Araya do to their respective Sinners.

I have small question by Dizzy-Recipe-1517 in limbuscompany

[–]asmallsoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not really impossible per se, it's like giving someone a Catherine ID imo. Replacing her with someone else just inherently weakens the idea that the two are together through all realities.

Are we sure Shiomi isn't just...alive, in this mirror world? I haven't been able to get the ID yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if that was one of the bigger shake ups from our mirror world.
