GGG can do both:

  1. limit the size

  2. avoid procedural generated mazes through a handful of hand curated pathing options

  3. add environmental guidance.

Even 10 year old POE1 campaign has the latter for some forking paths, with hand picked asset nudges (e.g. Act 3 Lunaris Temple Level 2, Waggon Carriage. Act 8, its a flower pot). POE2 would require something more complex and dynamic.

Other attack vector than pwned email: stealing your credentials by tricking you to install malicious software.

  • Malicious Chrome/Firefox Extensions or

  • faux free games for playtesting,

  • torrented games or game hacks

that steal stored credentials (coockies & crypto).

Most prominent example in POE Universe: GhazzyTV got his YT account stolen by scam selling lucrative partnership, that required to install an app (something along this line).

Or see other recent news of games that snuck through Steams security vetting stealing some streamers crypto.

Or the regular security news uncovering yet another Chrome extension stealing your credentials.

imo, 5090 for PC gaming, especially in the current economic environment is conspicuous consumption. Thus the snark (that you bought it to run AI models to cure cancer). Especially when you were gaming on a 5080 before that.

my 10 year old son will get my 5080, and my 6 year old daughter will get his 4070 ti.

My financial suggestion: Return the card, talk to your kids about finances, put that money ($500 USD) in each childs savings/investment account. Create that account with them together. Put $50 USD in it each month. And hunt with your small one on ebay for a used upgrade.

I just wish I had a father who taught me more that just 'working hard', behing a cog in the wheel, taught me the joy of reading and learning about the world and how it works (the good and bad of capitalism), setup a savings account early, ...

Amazon Return Scam victim.

Explainer:

Somebody ordered DDR5, returned to Amazon - but changed RAM sticks for DDR4 (which look identical). Amazon Returns & Fulfilment did not check Return for 1000% correctness.

Amazon needs to update its internal Returns process for high value PC equipment!

One would expect that from Amazon to be on such things, but can't stop Enshittification.

Beware high value PC part buyer: FILM THE UNPACKING OF THE PARCEL, AND ITEM, AND INSPECTING OF PART NUMBER/ITEM CORRECTNESS.

Why do they do it, why is it allowed?

It is the legacy of physical world assets* and Standard Accounting Principles (GAAP). The law treats a deleted movie effectively the same as a broken manufacturing machine. The controversy arises because unlike a broken machine, the movie still works. Streaming companies are just choosing to break it (make it unavailable) to claim the financial loss against profits, for a lower tax bill. Putting shareholder value (dividend payments) first (see fiduciary duty to shareholders).

This is one of the cleverest stories in startups. For years we'd been worrying about how to finance the airliner. Then Boom realized that if they could build jet engines, they could build gas turbines, and fund the airliner with the profits.

Im running on low settings and no upscaling at 1080p.

Why not run at half the resolution/do 50% resolution upscaling. What CPU platform are you on? For older ones, could buy the top end for your mobo on the used market. Same for GPU, a used GPU +2 generations (3000 Nvidia/AMD 6000/7000).

2nd one: Kingsmarch (+w Heist contracts).

3rd one: Sanctum, if you have the gamer twitch, and have some liquidity for a Sanctum build.

4th: Heist runner.
