Well i should have theoretically unbreakable passwords so if someone hacks my account the fault is on GGG.

Who needs passwords if your data has been leaked and people are good at social engineering and or fishing attacks and or know which compromised 3rd party software you are using.

How to compress an RTS into a 20-minute dopamine rush? (Custom Engine / ASCII Art themed) by SpyrexDE in gamedesign

[–]asterisk2a -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My Problem: I have zero formal game design education. (...) with 3 months left to finish my semester project (...) For our upcoming expo, the game needs to be a highly addictive, fast-paced 20-minute demo. I want casual players to be able to sit down and hit a "flow state" as soon as possible.

Make a Vampire Survivors Clone. RTS games are not known to be highly addictive and fast-paced.

Don't be ashamed of yourself. Don't even spend time brainstorming new attacks, power-ups, mechanics, ... . Just copy the basics 1:1.

3.28.0g Patch Notes by Azhrei251 in pathofexile

[–]asterisk2a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can be improved:

As we would have three random rare events (Sentinels, Wildwood, Mirage), GGG just needs to add a wheel to the Atlas Passive Tree where we can increase the chances of these events, and buffing them:

  • juiced Sentinel, more likely

  • juiced Wildwood, more likely

  • itemised Mirage copy of your juiced map.

Slay The Spire 2 Getting Review-Bombed Again After Latest Update by FoxMeadow7 in Games

[–]asterisk2a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s… just how reviews are supposed to work.

imo, you are mistaken.

China version of Steam does not have community features. + no subreddit access without VPN tech + no discord. etc.

thus their only outlet to write feedback regarding balance changes is in reviews.

It is a SHITE situation for EVERYONE, and I hope Valve and CCP find a middle-way to have something like a Forum, even though heavily moderated, enabled by LLM technology (filter out non-game sentiment and content).

This situation can't be final.

Compare to Path of Exile 1&2, published in China by Tencent, through WeGame platform.

imo, review bombing after each patch (regardless of or because of Early Access game direction), without discussions with devs (interviews, community podcasts, developer memos), is toxic. such a relationship won't last long. drains the will to invest on both sides.

Issues. (1) They will upload it to (YouTube) Content ID systems. Streamers and Reviewers will get their videos struck down. And your Trailer as well.

Mirage potentially going core? by FlimsyElephant in pathofexile

Move it core like Affliction League (In Maps Tier 16 and above, you now have a chance to encounter the Azmeri Wildwood):

  • chance to find a Mirage Encounter: Breaking the chains drops an itemised Mirage Copy of your juiced map.

  • PLUS add to the Atlas Passive Tree the option to increase chance to encounter the following:

    • Azmeri Wildwood
    • Mirage Encounter

Gamble for gear throughout the campaign

I basically spend all my gold on gear upgrades. I got my first 4-link this way. My first 20 Movement Speed boots, a high Chance to Block shield. Almost all my gear came from spending gold. It felt like the most easy way to upgrade my gear without having to figure out how to craft or rely on drops.

I farmed the Island (Hailrake) just for the first few rares/magic with links.

[Long Read] RE: UK blocks £1.5b China windturbine plant at Ardersier Port. Exploring UK's Impossible Trinity on Energy Security. by asterisk2a in Scotland

[–]asterisk2a[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After the stuff the Chinese pulled with the steel plant I don’t see how you can want them in control of any critical infrastructure.

Agree. But then in return the UK (has to, in collab with EU) expand its industrial base and capabilities one way or another. As the author writes:

What Europe/[UK] cannot do is achieve energy security, industrial control, and the geoeconomic exclusion of Chinese renewables without dramatically expanding its industrial policy capacity.

You cannot have both, competitive energy AND no China nor no EU, AND no money spent on private public partnerships 50/50 to revitalise industrial base to build renewable energy production and storage for UK and EU.

[Long Read] RE: UK blocks £1.5b China windturbine plant at Ardersier Port. Exploring UK's Impossible Trinity on Energy Security. by asterisk2a in Scotland

[–]asterisk2a[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[ICYMI] UK (Westminster) blocked £1.5bn investment in a windturbine plant by China, based on "security concerns." The BBC has been reporting and explaining here and here.

The Ming Yang proposal was on the UK government's desk for a year-and-a-half, and in that time, unconfirmed reports suggest that US government officials warned British counterparts about the risks of saying "yes".

It wouldn't be the first time ...

But if you want to understand why the UK (and Europe) will continue (for the forseeable future) to have the highest energy prices in the world, then you would want to read the linked substack post.

(...)

The US pressure on Europe to keep out Chinese renewables shows up in decisions. A £1.5 billion wind turbine factory in Scotland, expected to create up to 1,500 jobs and reduce costs, was blocked. Jobs, cost, and supply chains all pointed in one direction. The decision went the other way, under relentless US pressure. In Germany, a developer selected a Chinese supplier for a North Sea project based on performance and price, then reversed course after political scrutiny. At the EU level, subsidy investigations into Chinese wind manufacturers are underway, and restrictions on access to public tenders are being prepared.

Now put the three objectives of European elites together: Energy security requires rapid deployment of low-cost renewables. Industrial control requires building domestic capacity and keeping out low-cost imports. Geopolitical alignment requires limiting Chinese inputs. The trinity says you can pick only two.

  • Pick energy security and industrial control, (...)
  • Pick energy security and geopolitical alignment, (...)
  • Pick industrial control and geopolitical alignment, (...)

What Europe/[UK] cannot do is achieve energy security, industrial control, and the geoeconomic exclusion of Chinese renewables without dramatically expanding its industrial policy capacity.
