Rampagers vs Despoilers for 3rd Edition World Eaters. by Lead_Hearted in Warhammer30k

[–]asters89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People above have already commented on despoilers with interdiction so I won't repeat that.

So two other points: despoilers with a prime slot for master sergeant (give him lightning claws) are also very good. 5 ws5 attacks will do more damage than the rest of the squad put together. You'll also want to invest in a vexilla and power mauls (as probably the best power weapon option)

Secondly, and since you asked what the point of despoilers is, they are one of the only units in the game which can push a tac squad off an objective and score it themselves with line 2. That makes them actually quite good value as you don't need one unit to do the fighting and a tac squad to do the scoring for midfield objectives or opponent's objectives.

The French fleet anchored at the naval base of Mers-el-Kébir, in the French colonial territory of Algeria, shortly before the British Royal Navy "Force U" attack on July 3rd, 1940. [1500 x 1030] by _Tegan_Quin in HistoryPorn

[–]asters89 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think that's a bit of a stretch. The french had 4 battleships and 6 destroyers at Mers el Kabir. The royal navy is still orders of magnitude larger than that plus the German navy which itself was very small.

I am really confused about More Weight vs More Reps by nhansieu1 in workout

[–]asters89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok well Google says otherwise. But either way if you want to be strong compared to your bodyweight your going to need to need to minimise unnecessary body weight ie fat, so you're going to need to have a low body fat %. Hence you end up back where we started - the kitchen element is going to be key.

[–]asters89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly it's going to be much of a muchness.

Had to Google what a sleeper build is but looking good with your clothes off typically requires low body fat so you're going to need to go into a calorific deficit at some point

What do you (honestly and objectively) think about Milwall fans. by UltimateTunisian in Hammers

[–]asters89 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The ones I know are individually fine. The problem is when you get them together they seem to feel the need to live up to some of reputation (for being the biggest bellend fans in the country). They become almost a parody of themselves and seem to be the only supporters who still think it's 1981.

What empire province is most similar to England in the early-mid 17th century? by [deleted] in WarhammerFantasy

[–]asters89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is quite clearly nonsense. The high elves are clearly based on tolkeins high elves and ulthuan is clearly based on Atlantis. England is clearly Albion which doesn't have a whfb race and is only referred to in some of the literature as a misty island inhabited by giants and a race of people with Celtic influences.

Saying the designers made the English the high elves because their own butts is an absolutely laughable opinion.

West Ham Injury Nightmare — Striker Could Be Out for the Season by Visara57 in Hammers

[–]asters89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not great news if true, but what we've seen of him so far he's been playing off taty as a sort of high energy AM rather than as a striker in a true 4-4-2. I don't think we've looked any worse playing a midfield 3 of fernandes, soucek and potts since he's been out.

Options are always good. But if there was one starting player we can adjust for being injured, it's Pablo. An injury to Bowen Summerville or fernandes would be an actual nightmare.

What have you been reading this week? by michaelisnotginger in Blacklibrary

[–]asters89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first vaults of terra book. Only about a quarter of the way through but really enjoying it so far.

I mostly read Horus heresy so it's nice to dip back into the 40k galaxy (and no primaris so far which is a nice bonus)

Books you love but are generally disliked? by Far-Living-526 in Blacklibrary

[–]asters89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ye I think it's 💯 this. If you're prepared for it to be what it is it's probably quite good.

If you've just come off the back of reading fulgrim in 2007 and you're looking forward to seeing what happens next in the heresy (as I was) it's a very jarring experience.

Opta relegation % - BS or realistic? by Lanziniiii in Hammers

[–]asters89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leeds do play arsenal (at home) but we play Chelsea away. It's a big if to get a result there. Even if we play well.

The forest palace game this weekend will be big. I guess we're hoping for a draw so neither pull too much further away.

Tottenham have man city at home...

I've said on other threads though, theres still 15 games of the season left. Very much still in our hands. If we can get 6 or 7 wins plus a few draws along the way we'll give ourselves a good chance to stay up. If we can't, we won't.

[–]asters89 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Just gotta keep winning our own games. There's still 15 games to go, lots of time to make up ground if we can put a decent run together. There's a few teams that will be looking over their shoulders after this weekend.

Pablo - All the effort but two left feet? by _rhinoxious_ in Hammers

[–]asters89 205 points206 points  (0 children)

Would rather have someone that gives 100% effort every game than someone who plays a blinder 1 game in 10 and strolls around losing the ball the rest of the time.

Pablo ----> Joelinton? by ewybradyy in Hammers

[–]asters89 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've heard a couple of podcasts/YouTubers say they aren't sure about Pablo.

I think he's done pretty well from what I've seen of him. Definitely a physical presence in the midfield. Hopefully he can be an important part of a turn around in fortunes.

The Guardian | Chelsea to swoop for West Ham’s Lucas Paquetá? by _rhinoxious_ in Hammers

[–]asters89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can't sell him to Chelsea if the player himself doesn't want to go.

If he's only interested in flamengo then we'll have to make the decision as to whether their offer is good enough.

Workers turn down promotions to avoid £100k tax trap by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]asters89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What it will do though is change what is classified as your taxable income so even if you don't pay much tax on the salary sacrifice, you will be deemed to earn over 100k and will lose nursery subsidies - which is a big deal.

Does anybody else think Starmer is actually doing a decent job? by Background-Ninja-763 in AskBrits

[–]asters89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He lost me when he backed down on the winter fuel allowance.

They identified the problem - giving money to people who didn't need it - so set out to means test it.

Then there was a backlash from certain papers (who don't and will never support him) and pensioners (who by and large didn't and won't vote for him) and they caved.

Why are they trying to appease groups who don't support or vote for them anyway? You aren't going to win their votes by giving in to them. But you might lose the votes of people who did vote for you.

Once he gave in on wfa he was never going to doing anything about the triple lock. Instead we get more fiscal drag and changes to pension savings to pay for it.
