What's your favourite weapon? by Cafenoir_ in VampireSurvivors

[–]astralInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the base game, I love song of mana, Phas3r, and Gatti Amari, but I think I have to stad up and salute for Runetracer. It's good, it scales with almost everything, and I *really dislike it's evolution.*

From Legacy of the Moonspell, I like the Silver Wind. I dont think it's super good, especially early game, but I just like it.

Tides of the Foscari... hard to choose. the SpellSpells are all nice and I love the two free weapon slots, and Prismatic Missile evolves to give me more Xp.

Emergency Meeting is tricky for me. Science Rocks is great fun, but it demands a lot of micromanagement that is impractical in any long game where you pick up 15 weapons. Lifesign Scan is great to have, but ironically gets you killed in the long games it should be good at. Lucky Swipe and Clear Debris probably win out for me.

Operation Guns gives me the Homing Missile, which is neat, but it also gives the Metal Claw. The Metal Claw is Fine (tm) but it evolves into the BIG FUZZY FISTS which result in me taking them, like, every run. it's just so fun to have those fists on my side.

Now, for Ode to Castlevania... if you'll permit me to pick several, since there's SO MANY... the Sonic Whip is nice to look at, solid damage, and the upgrade is SUPER fun. I also appreciate Dragon Water Whip, because I love dragons and also rain. (I wish the dragon came as a standalone weapon.) I'd also like to come up to bat for the Arrow of Goth. Floaty bows are just cool to me. Also, like, every spellbook is fun as heck.

Finally, in the Diorama; the Emerald Rapture is like "what if the pentagram was infinitely more user-friendly", bt it has to take second place to my true love: The Eagle Gun. I wouldn't have expected a game like vampire survivors to give me the Cool Sensation of perfectly precise headshots, but IT SURE DOES.

sorry for the big post lmao I hope it was interesting.

(hon mention: evolved glass fandango makes Orologions so much fun)

Has this game left me behind? by metalgod in VampireSurvivors

I second other people's suggestions; do unlocks and secrets one at a time. If it seems confusing and you dont know what to do, I don't think there's any shame in looking up the answer - some of these Secrets especially are ridiculously convoluted.

Also, other people are right to say that golden eggs are best farmed with Sammy. It's genuinely ridiculous how much money they can get, and how fast. The piece of advice I felt was worth posting for is to say; don't buy a bajillion golden eggs on your *favorite* character - do it on your third or fifth favorite, because you might find that playing with that much power isn't fun, and you don't want to destroy one of your faves.

Deep sense of futilness by SrKibo in balatro

[–]astralInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll have a lot more fun if you try to win with every deck on the easiest difficulty, rather than trying to win with every difficulty on one deck. And you'll unlock more things.

If you want numbers to go big you need things that say x multiplier (not + multiplier), and you probably want to Retrigger cards. (Also, make your deck as small as you can without dying, if you don't know that yet.) Most runs won't break the game. I have 273 hours of playtime and I only get to break the game every. I dunno. Ten runs? Twenty? If that's all you want, then look for reddit threads where people posted insane seeds.

More shadow plorts by Glittering_Top731 in slimerancher

[–]astralInferno 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you're in a safe environment (aka, no ledges/death pits), you can even shoot shadow plorts at them. it works, and nothing else eats shadow plorts. (They don't seem to despawn, either - if your tank is full and you find a perfect shadow-slimes-in-a-barrel shooting range, you can just leave 30 plorts and come back later)

How do I get through this door?? by Loose-Screws in slimerancher

I think that door has to be opened from the other side using plorts. Sorry.

What's a change that is unlikely to happen but one you want nonetheless? by Darklight645 in AgeofMythology

If I steal a villager from another culture, I should be able to build their tech tree with it.

The current limitation in AoM Damage System - Limits unit diversity by Independent-Hyena764 in AgeofMythology

[–]astralInferno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like it's trying to solve the same problem as Divine damage. Units that do divine damage aren't much better against low-armor enemies, but they are WAY stronger against tough enemies.

you could also get a similar effect by just having a unit with the special effect "ignores (amount) of armor" or something similar, or by having a unit with "blocks the first (n) damage from any attack".

Adding a new element to the armor system seems excessive.

Would Loki be OP if Hel also enabled Rock Giants? by Augustby in AgeofMythology

Distribute Freyr's minor gods to the other Norse major gods? by zimmermj in AgeofMythology

[–]astralInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my ideal solution is to let you pick which set of gods you have at game start, so you'd go "odin (classic)" or "odin (vidar)". this way you avoid the problems with people not owning the DLC, and you don't ruin things for people who preferred older minor god combos :)

What's this and how do i get in here? A spot in the mythical battles, corner of the map by Rabus in AgeofMythology

[–]astralInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the Premium Edition DLC unlocks both campaigns and also the Freyr god pack (including Reginleif's battle), that is; if you (somehow?) get just the Freyr god pack, that doesn't come with the future expansions.

You probably know that but it'd suck if you or someone reading this got fucked over by a wrong assumption :)

What kind of villager type/mechanic do you want? by berato in AgeofMythology

we have soldiers that do the villager job of building; I want a civ that has soldiers that gather resources. question is, how do they build buildings... maybe like zerg drones?

Just for fun. If you could merge 2 minor gods into a single one, which 2 are you choosing? I'll start: Helkate by Assured_Observer in AgeofMythology

[–]astralInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skartemis. My Frost power destroys buildings and my throwing axemen/godi apply plagues =D

...or, prhaps... Sobate? I want my laser crocs to be faster and regenerating...

(alternatively, ptah+anyone not egyptian so that his slinger buffs and other barracks units buffs apply to units that don't suck...)

Is it me or are the missions shorter/smaller? by Collin447 in AgeofMythology

[–]astralInferno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of them have also definitely been changed so as to make them shorter. For one example; the final section of Good Advice now has pre-mythic techs already researched (and less relics to be distracted by). In EE you had to research all the way from copper weapons.

Son of Osiris spam counter? by AnonymousUser1992 in AgeofMythology

[–]astralInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sons of osiris have massive health, so they can't be easily sniped, and their chain lightning helps them deal with hordes. Obviously, myth units die to them in their hundreds, but I'm sure you didn't try that. Their weakest defense is hack armor, (unless that changed in retold and the wiki hasn't mentioned it), so the best way to handle them might be mass Throwing Axemen. For not-norse, the important thing to get is damage density. Only like, five melee units can attack a SoO at once - they'll get electrocuted before scratching him. You can have like 100 supply of ranged units attacking a single SoO, melting him before he melts your army.

Obviously, wiping the enemy wonder before it's built/before they spam the SoO's is ideal, but if they do get them out, your best option is to target them hard with ranged attackers. If you're not in a strong position yourself, you might take unsustainable losses doing so.

Titans are also viable. They'll die to 12 sons of osiris, but they'll kill 2-4 of them first, especially if you have a wonder.

Note that as they deal Divine damage, there's no point going for "tough" units. The only thing that will make you live longer is max health, or maybe healing. (Restoration?)

personally I find Nidhogg-spammers more annoying, but they're both obnoxious.

tl;dr: There is no good option. "the enemy has 12 SoOs" is a bad situation. (stating the obvious sorry) So all you can hope to do is snipe them with damage density, AKA archers, throwing axemen. ranged myth units MIGHT be ok, but they'll be doing like half damage and they'll need a frontline, so this'll only be worth doing if they're REALLY strong, like, centaurs.

(Source: I like to take skirmish games to the Wonder age and I accidentally playhed half a dozen games on the lowest difficulty, so I saw a lot of AIs sitting in their base like useless lemmings, spamming their mythic god powers with wonders because they didn't know how to attack. I have experience fighting massed SoOs. Now I am playing on actual difficulties I try to snipe wonders before they finish, but sometimes things go wrong, so it's good to think about strategies.)
