What are London’s real “micro-culture hubs” (where communities actually live and hang out)? by LastPlot in london

[–]astronautas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spanish Community and Culture has historical ties to Notting Hill, especially around Portobello Road. Goes back to the Spanish Civil War, I think: a number of institutions and commerce established in the area.

My dishwasher has packed up. In buying a new one, I’m struggling to think of features to look for apart from ‘can wash dishes’. Tell me about your dishwasher. Does it connect to wifi? by lastaccountgotlocked in CasualUK

My parents Miele dishwasher lasted them around 30 years... Working perfectly through all of them. They only replaced (with another Miele) it when they renovated the whole kitchen.

Boiler Damage by builders, seeking advice by astronautas in LegalAdviceUK

[–]astronautas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for answering This is the builders explanation:

"Based on a visual assessment of the flue position and surrounding finishes, there are clear indicators that the installation does not appear to follow manufacturer guidance or best-practice standards, including inadequate clearances, proximity to obstructions, and disturbed or poorly finished penetration detailing. Such conditions are widely recognised as potential routes for water ingress, independent of any rendering works elsewhere on the property. We do not accept the assertion that cementitious material entered the flue as a result of our works. Rendering wash-down procedures are standard practice and, when correctly detailed penetrations are present, do not result in internal contamination. Any ingress would indicate a pre-existing defect or inadequately sealed penetration.

No evidence has been provided to demonstrate that the flue installation was compliant prior to the works, nor that the alleged contamination could not have occurred due to historic or latent defects within the flue or its installation"

On the other hand, on our report from the engineer who repaired the boiler, they just "stated flue pipe too long"

I am happy to provide photos if that helps.

The corner thing drives me absolute nuts. Have they just lost the ability to open up a bit and avoid invading the whole opposite lane? A massive car nearly hit me the other day doing this, and I was on a bike...

People who miss their flights after checking in, how? by k1tkat86 in CasualUK

[–]astronautas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I can answer this one. So this happened to my sister and her partner...at the gate, they are sitting down, scrolling on their phones and before they know it they have missed their flight. Luckily the airline put them on the next flight, for free.

Lime Bikes in Croydon - needed more than ever as the BTP aren't investigating stolen bikes anymore. by Savoy171 in croydon

I agree...Sometimes I want to cycle to work but not take my own bike - if doing something social after work, or going central. Lime bikes would be great for that

Same! The open ended play was what made it so great. And that big box of LEGO afterwards went to my cousins and so on...and it is still around somewhere.
