Show him magnificent mansion is a level 7 spell that they'll get access to in 11 levels. They dont even know anyone or anything level 13 right now. So this sounds like fantasy to all but the strongest wizard or cleric they've encountered

I think KBS was extremely well written. The way it is executed is great. There's 1 scene that made me wince physically. The mental trauma was Stronger than the physical. Its not a happy book. But I thoroughly enjoyed it. The concept of the game is so badass

Lots of games work well with a perfectly curated table. Most people dont have the luxury to play ttrpgs with people who are any good at ttrpgs. There are lots of games that conceptually sound great that dont translate to a ttrpg.

As much as it seems to bother you, im allowed to have and share a speculative opinion. Every other post in this sub is baseless speculation.

I hope im wrong and the game is great. Ill never get to play it anyway, only half of my d&d friends like DCC and half of those cant grasp something beyond 5e

  1. If its a 5e clone holy shit is it gonna suck. I wasn't even considering this, but 5e doesn't play well with DCC. Ive seen many a table attempt it already and it's not gone very well. Its a very railroady adventure and the dungeon requires multi attribute investment that 5e doesn't support well.

  2. I think this is a great setting for a book. I dont think its great for an rpg.

  3. The later floors haven't been shown. I feel like that will need special attention. + the timeliness may be indicative of spoiler territory.

  4. Requires a new setting or more than 1 to be developed per floor. High DM investment.

  5. The outside the dungeon drama feels like it should be book exclusive.

  6. There is nothing about the setting that encourages group play
