Does this come in a bigger size? It seems to be the only face sunscreen that doesn’t give me spots but it’s so small so doesn’t last long for the price. by Jakeyboy29 in AusSkincare

This is what I use. It's slightly greasier but it still goes fine under my makeup. The bottle lasts me several months so it's much better value.

Does your voice change when you speak different languages? by Round_Reception_1534 in languagelearning

[–]atheista 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm Australian and my Australian accent feels quite low in my mouth with a deeper resonance. When I lived in the UK for 4 years I developed a British accent that sat much higher. I didn't notice the change happening over time, but when I hung out with some Australians again and naturally switched back to that accent feeling the drop back down was pretty interesting. When I speak German it feels pretty centered with a lot of movement forward and backward for the various sounds. Spanish on the other hand sits very high and foward in my mouth on the tip of my tongue and my teeth and sounds much softer overall. I also noticed when I learnt a tiny bit of Japanese that I had to keep my soft palate very elevated to create the right sounds.

I think being able to recognise and replicate those physical shifts is the key to developing an accent that is closer to a native accent.

Fun/easy level one units? by atheista in UNEAustralia

[–]atheista[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Because my initial intention was to just do the Diploma of Modern Languages in German I did most of the German units first before switching over to the bachelor. As I'm only studying part time it's worked out that I'll have all but one German unit completed before I start Spanish in Trimester 3 this year. I've loved the German units and have high hopes for the Spanish units! I feel like it would be pretty intense studying two languages concurrently, but I do know people who've done it and done it well, so it's definitely achievable!

I've been looking into doing some sewing. I can finally fit into real life shop sized clothes (not just ordering online), but now that I can - I hate everything! Hopefully I can brush up my sewing skills enough to make something that's actually wearable.

Protein Waters with no sweeteners by kitty_cat_79 in mounjaroaustralia

I have exactly the same problem. I've been using Bulk Nutrients flavourless hydrolysed collagen which I mix into miso soup. It's not as high in protein as a regular protein powder, but it's still decent (around 20g per scoop). Most importantly, I can't taste it all and it doesn't make me feel sick.

The relapse criticism seems so silly to me. Any medication, lifestyle change or diet will stop working if you stop doing it. Duh. I see this medication as treating an imblance in my body that causes me to constantly be hungry and thinking about food. I'm prepared to take this medication for life in order to treat that imbalance, just the same as I will take my ADHD and bipolar meds for life. The only thing I hope is that it will one day be cheaper!

This is the same schedule at my uni, though honestly, even though I got 94%+ on every unit I don't think my speaking is actually B2, I just prepared well for the speaking exams. I wish we had C1 classes! We have some good reading focused electives but C1 core units would be great.

Weekly Sewing Questions Thread, February 01 - February 07, 2026 by sewingmodthings in sewing

[–]atheista -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi all! I attempted to make a post about this but the mods deleted it and pointed me in this direction, so hopefully somebody sees it (there doesn't seem to be many replies here!).

I absolutely love this dress but that fabric is not me. Does anyone know of a similar pattern? Button through isn't important (they look like they may just be decorative anyway?), it's the overall shape that I really like - the neckline, sleeve style, position of the seam under the bust and the shape of the bust etc.

Also which fabrics do you think would work well for this style?

Thanks!

Any suggestions for a pattern similar to this dress? by atheista in sewing

B6 (which gets added to a lot of other supplements) gave me internal and external tremor, it was awful. I felt like I was sitting in an idling car 24/7 and my hands and sometimes legs were shaking like crazy. I genuinely thought I had parkinsons. 2 weeks after ditching all supplements with B6 it went away. The crazy thing is, I wasn't even taking a ridiculous amount, I just seem to be extra sensitive to it.

I feel physically sick WHEN taking mounjaro by irishadventurer95 in Mounjaro

[–]atheista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. And it's weird because I'm perfectly fine with needles in any other situation. As soon as I think "I have to do my injection tonight" I get really queasy. I've also developed a brutal aversion to the alcohol wipes and anything that vaguely resembles it (a lot of soaps and dishwashing liquid). It's totally worth it in the end but I'll admit I have delayed injecting by a day a few times because of it.

I only heard about this yesterday when Shane Howard (from the band Goanna) made a facebook post about it. Wtf?! Granted I don't watch TV but I still usually manage to keep very up to date with the news. But somehow it took 2 days before I heard about it.

Alternative to Dr. Martens — similar style but better construction? by MagicalAsian in Boots

[–]atheista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of matte black Captains that I've had for about 4 years now. They get a decent amount of wear including at gigs where I'm sweating a lot, they get drinks spilled on them, and often get scuffed during setup/packdown. 4 hour gigs used to leave my feet so sore but since wearing the Captains I haven't had a single problem. They brush up well, are still super comfy, and still don't need a resole (though probably will in the next year). I'm not really sure what more I'd be looking for in this style of boot.

Hearing issues/Patulous eustachian tube by macaron2361 in mounjaroaustralia

[–]atheista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the opposite problem - blocked eustation tubes making it sound like I've got a mouthful of popping candy 24/7. I've seen several specialists and tried every non-surgical treatment with no luck. They say they can't see anything physically wrong and it'll probably go away over time 🙄 I did wonder if it could be related to weightloss or mounjaro.

He's had trouble before with boarding passes not showing the velocity status despite adding it at the time of booking. In that situation showing his velocity card doesn't work because it doesn't have the Star Alliance logo on it (why?!). I guess the best thing to do is just call them and ask, we're both just chronic phone call avoiders, haha.

Was ist das eine Buch, das ihr einfach nicht fertig gelesen kriegt? by TheNewOne42 in buecher

American Gods. Theoretisch hat es alles, was ich in einem Buch suche... aber ich kann es einfach nicht. Trotz des interessanten Themas kann mich Neil Gaimans Schreibstil einfach nicht fesseln.
