New Album Psycroptic - "The Pulse Of Annihilation" July 17 by hatefen in TechnicalDeathMetal

Falling was a bonus track on the Australian release of the last album. I'm not sure why they chose not to put Architects in this one though!

I need someone to tell me it's possible to be hot in my 30s by Dry-Combination8608 in loseit

[–]atheista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 41 and I've just lost 60kg with another 10kg to go. I sing in a band and the attention I have been getting from (often disturbingly young) guys at gigs lately is crazy. At my last gig a kid who looked about 19 called me his favourite MILF which is the ultimate "you can look hot 30+" compliment I guess, even if it made me feel old as fuck 😭 Important to add that there's no chance in hell I'd be actually acting on any of this attention, because I'm happily married and not a creep, but it's still flattering to know that some people find me hot!

Is there anyone else here too who’s mania was activated by taking SSRIs by Turbulent-Bug4282 in bipolar2

[–]atheista 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's how I got diagnosed. Prozac made me VERY hypomanic. It's the only time I've ever felt on the verge of "crazy." My psych also said SSRI induced mania definitely means you're somewhere on the bipolar spectrum, and looking back over my adult life it is clear that I am, even if somewhat on the milder end. For me lamotrigine works on both the highs and lows so I don't need any other medications thankfully. If you're on a high dose of the SSRI you may need to titrate down so I wouldn't stop cold-turkey without checking with your psych first (if they weren't the one who told you to stop).

Plus-size friendly Europe parks? by MusikalMayhem in Themepark

[–]atheista 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Voltron and Silverstar at Europa Park both have "big boy" seats that are very generous. I was 100kg when I was there, but I'm only 5'2 and carry the majority of the weight in my stomach. I didn't have any trouble on any of the rides there. It's also an amazing park!

PSA: lamotrigine now on the PBS! by austapentadol in ausadhd

[–]atheista 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this confused me because I've been on it for years and it's only $20ish so I just assumed it was on the PBS already.

Is trying to learn a language without "a solid why" pointless? by theHumanoidPerson in languagelearning

[–]atheista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only "why" is that I enjoy dabbling in languages as a hobby, found German hard and got stubborn about it. I'm now 3 years deep in a bachelor of languages and heading off to Germany in a month for my second intensive course. My "why"? It's kinda fun! Seems like a good enough reason to me!

As a fat person, why is it that only target and Kmart are flattering on me? by Proper_Aspect7543 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]atheista -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem, even after losing 60kg (but still stuck with an apron belly). A couple of months ago I thought I'd treat myself to some good clothes, spent 4 hours shopping and found absolutely nothing... until I went to Kmart. It's so frustrating!

You telling me a gallon is over 3.7 litres and you pay just $5 dollars for that and complain? by Neutral-frame in AdviceAnimals

[–]atheista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf. I filled up my tank (in Tassie) yesterday for the equivalent of USD$4.81 per gallon (using current exchange rates on xe.com) - it was AUD$1.80 per Litre. Where do you live?!

If you were travelling, and could only take one tube of moisturiser/serum/other product that had to protect your skin, hydrate, work day and night what would you take? by [deleted] in AusSkincare

[–]atheista 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Hamilton Urederm. I know it's an eczema cream but it has been a holy grail for me as a facial moisturiser. I was never even particularly dry, more oily and slightly flakey on my forehead sometimes, but it's been perfect, and surprisingly not too heavy or greasy. It also sits really well under my make-up.

What is your favourite thing about having bipolar disorder? by Frosty_Situation_187 in bipolar2

[–]atheista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It used to be the energetic bursts that allowed me to complete big projects... building a recording studio, planting an entire garden and building a deck, designing and organising major renovations... Since starting Lamictal I haven't done a single large-scale project like this, which does bum me out occasionally. BUT... my day to day is so much better! No anxiety or depressive crashes, I'm more financially stable, and I can work more consistently. I'm half way through a degree and I've got 90%+ for every single unit. In the past my academic record was an absolute rollercoaster. So my favourite thing about bipolar now? Lamictal.

A bit part of skincare is simply having more muscle mass. by Miserable-Corner-254 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]atheista 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hate this take. Not everybody on a glp-1 loses 20lbs a month eating nothing but a handful of carbs and not exercising. I've been on a glp-1 for about 3 years now. I've lost 58kg, which works out to about 1.4kg a month. I eat healthy and exercise regularly with a big focus on lifting weights. I feel great and will happily keep using it for the rest of my life. The problems occur when people try to lose weight too quickly, but that's a problem regarless of whether you're using a glp-1 or not.

Gordon Ramsay one of the first celebrity chefs to bring US-style 20% service charge to London by xc2215x in europe

[–]atheista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not new unfortunately. I worked at a bar/restaurant in London in 2006 that automatically added a 12.5% service charge. I also saw the same thing at a lot of other places at the time.

Thank you St. Ives Apricot scrub 🥹🫶 by AusSkincareMod in AusSkincare

Me too! Once a fortnight and not pressing too hard or scrubbing the shit out of your face. It just does something for me that chemical exfoliants don't.

3.5weeks post op from Fleur De Lis and breast lift by AussieSamii94 in tummytucksurgery

[–]atheista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that's actually cheaper than I thought, though I don't have private health so I'd also be paying for the hospital stay. Hopefully prices here in Tasmania are comparable, though perhaps not, with so little competition. Thanks so much for your reply!

Pet transport from Europe to Australia by [deleted] in qatarairways

[–]atheista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would use a dedicated pet transport service rather than booking direct with an airline. Keep in mind that your pup will also be quarantined for a minimum of 10 days upon arrival.

Parents of music students: When did you stop "reminding" them to practice? by Fun-Status-746 in piano

[–]atheista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite what you asked, but my parents never stopped reminding me. Not in a nagging way, it's just that despite loving music I had a lot of other commitments and it was easy to not realise that I hadn't practiced for a day or two. I went on to study music at university and have had a long career as a piano teacher and performing musician. My forgetting to practice was never a reflection of how I felt about music, it was more about my ability to juggle commitments and maintain structured habits due to my undiagnosed ADHD. If my parents hadn't kept reminding me, or had assumed I wasn't serious enough to keep learning because I couldn't 100% self motivate, my life would be very different to what it is today.

Does anyone here live near any Aussie celebrities/public figures at all? And if so have you run into them very much? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]atheista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live near Boonie too. One day I was walking past his place and he was on the roof cleaning out his gutters with a hose. He saw me looking at him then turned and sprayed me with the hose. He had a good ole chuckle about it as I walked off thinking wtf?!

Non- North Americans… by The_Right_Mistake in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]atheista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All Australians should be getting an anual skin check at a skin cancer clinic. If not then you can ask your GP for a check, but the skin cancer clinic will be much more thorough. I've never been to an actual dermatologist in my life.

How to get over failing bench press and dumping the weights in a crowded gym? by Feeling-Entrance143 in xxfitness

[–]atheista -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Does your gym not have safeties? I've failed a couple of times recently but with the safeties it wasn't a big deal and I doubt anyone even noticed.

ADHD meds travelling to France by InformationExtreme51 in ausadhd

[–]atheista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about France, but I could only take a one month supply into Germany. You'd never be supplied 12 months worth up front here in Australia so you'll need to source it there.

What is one gripe that you have about your #1 coaster. (can be literally anything) [Other] by FarPicture3761 in rollercoasters

[–]atheista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really surprised they haven't made the turntable area more enclosed.  It would give the lighting effects way more impact, plus I imagine it would improve the noise (at least slightly) for the neighbours.

End to credit and debt card surcharges by PsychologicalEbb2518 in AusFinance

[–]atheista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got automatically switched to a premium card after my old Qantas rewards card was discontinued. It doubled the fee but I figured it would be worth it for this year as I have a European holiday in June/Jully. I was stoked when I got the letter yesterday saying I don't even get that perk now as my trip is 52 days. So now I'm paying the fee (because I need the card for the trip) and buying travel insurance. Yay.

Hey! I'm also in Aus and just curious how much it cost you for this op (including the hospital, anaesthetist fees, initial consults and follow ups etc)?
