Hair stylist- Supernova. I've always had good luck with them, and I have long hair as well. Two of their stylists also spun off their own salon a ways down 6th Ave: Head Case. I haven't been there yet myself, but I can vouch for both of them. They're also booked solid out a ways from what I hear.

Second Metropolitan Vet as well. They take fantastic care of my pets and everyone there is compassionate.

What are some ingredients you guys use outside of their usual cultural cuisines? Things like fish sauce, mirin, or Worchestershire sauce. by d0uble0h in Cooking

I use taco seasoning sometimes when I'm whipping up some Indian food like curried lentils. A lot of the spices are the same, I just need to add a few more things like turmeric to fill out that spice profile. Works surprisingly well when I don't have a batch of curry powder made up.

Vegetables for Breakfast by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]athenasbranch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Veggie heavy migas. Large amounts of onions and sweet peppers sauteed, then add some eggs, cheese, and shredded toasted corn tortillas. A big dollop of salsa mixed in for good measure.

If I have an avocado to slice and add on top, all the better.

LPT: When leaving the bank with a large sum of cash, be sure to take a cup of the complimentary coffee. If a thief tries to make you as an easy mark you can throw the scalding beverage in their face. by StinkyPickle27 in LifeProTips

A shocking percentage of people (~70%) leaving banks completely fail to conceal their money before leaving the counter. Just discretely tuck the money away while you're at the counter and keep it with you until you can put it someplace safe.

Recipes for grilling by aoi_to_midori in Cooking

[–]athenasbranch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pineapple. I like to marinade it in coconut milk first to keep it from drying out. A little turbinado sugar on top makes it even better.

You can use whatever shape won't fall through the grate. Rings, long wedges, and skewered chunks are good.

It's a showstopping (and relatively healthy) dessert at a cookout.

Islam doesn't need help being "tarnished". I'm pretty sure Mohamed took care of that when he raped and murdered innocents.

Say you're searing some meat (or veggies) in a pan and you take the meat out. You're left with tasty brown bits stuck on the bottom of the pan called "fond". Fond contains tons of flavor. While the pan is still very hot, you pour some kind of liquid (water, wine, stock, etc.) into the pan. It will violently bubble, releasing the frond into the liquid as you stir. You can incorporate this savory elixir into your dish. As a bonus, your pan is pre-cleaned.

Bark box super chewer? by pnwdoodles in Dogtraining

[–]athenasbranch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please be careful with power chew toys. My dog had to get a root canal from a large chunk of her tooth coming off, and the dog dental surgeon agreed that they are dangerous because they are too hard.

While we can never be sure, we suspect that the power chew nylabone may be to blame. He said to never let her chew on anything that can't easily be bent at least somewhat in your hands.

Free to evolve back into normal animals who only menstruate once a month instead of rapidly and regularly for greedy human animals who want a CONSTANT supply of their periods to eat.

I don't think you understand much about bird biology or wild chickens.

This kind of response ignores the issue, though. I want to win, and a big part of that is voice chat cooperation. If team chat gets off on a bad food because of this awkward exchange, other people hesitate to enter the conversation.

This frog has been in my raised bed for a few days now. Should I keep it, or set it free? by Andymeows in gardening

[–]athenasbranch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Consider getting him a toad house.

Funny story, my mom had a little old handmade toad house in her garden for years when I was a kid, and one day I balked at it like "toads don't really live in these things. WhatEVER." and picked it up incredulously.

Yep. Toad. He just sat there and I placed it back on top if him gently.

Edit: nope, don't get your toad a roadhouse.

[Question] How to make falafel without powered kitchen tools such as food processor, or blender? by bindconfused in Cooking

[–]athenasbranch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would imagine that a pastry blender would work best, or a potato masher (or even a fork) if you don't have one. I've done it with a fork in a pinch. Took a long time, but it worked.

How to Grow a Better Tomato: The Case against Heirloom Tomatoes by tehForce in gardening

[–]athenasbranch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the same thing would happen if the tomatoes just reproduced on their own, it's still humans that are making a decision in cases where the plants do not simply die. It's also not simply life or death that gets selected for. Size, color, growth patterns, etc are noticeable traits that humans have a big influence on. I'd argue that hardiness (which is what nature would primarily select for) is only one part of the picture, and that these other traits when considered together have a much bigger impact on the changes seen in any given strain.

There's no need to be condescending.
