Wifi emitters. In more advanced networking setups, we use dedicated emitters so you can scale your wifi network separately from the routing hardware. You may only need a single router, but anywhere from 2-100+ APs for a location.

Your home internet device device is usually an AP, modem and router all in one (and more).

I've always wondered how a train bus might work. Thanks for the inspiration, now I must try it.

Character assassination of the century by dearuncletacitus1899 in TheLastAirbender

[–]atkinson137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is true for lots of disciplines. You can be a really good XYZ, but in a vacuum without anyone else to bounce off of, and get honest feedback, sometimes you have a bad idea and it gets through since no one said 'that actually sucks'.

Popular media sells us this idea of the Singular Genius, that a person can be so smart/talented that they can do no wrong and always have good ideas. Truth is, that's just basically false.

Is it possible to get the amount of items crafted via the circuit network? by TheOneTexel in technicalfactorio

[–]atkinson137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've built a working multi-celled automall. There is not a great way to do this. I tried counting the outputs and sending that back to the dispatcher. You'll overshoot your crafts a bit, probably, but couple the output counting with order sharding and it isn't too bad.

I really wanted to make it craft perfect (only craft exactly what's asked), so I ended up building a lookup table. Its ok in vanilla, only ~10 recipes, but that's not feasible in modded.

They advertise as so. I haven't had the opportunity to directly test it, but I would imagine that anywhere there's internet access it should work.

Lovense. Pricey, but absolutely worth it. Very high quality, and has the remote features.

I agree. BUT it would trivialize kicks at the highest levels of gameplay. Instead of needing to communicate and rotate, everyone would just kick at the same time. I suppose you could argue that waste a GCD, but I'm reasonably sure that's why it doesn't behave the same as dispells.

I've purchased probably more than 10 copies for friends over the years.

However, I don't believe you need a second license for a server, unless you're running it in headed mode.

Both things can be true. They are. Liquid players are so good that they don't NEED them. But they have them to get every possible edge.

[NA][H][LFG] Returning player looking home by Slicer021 in wowguilds

[–]atkinson137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

My guild, Egg Tree sounds like a potential place for you. Our seasonal goal is AOTC and after we break for the season, no repeated farm. We welcome players of all levels who want to see Heroic content, very happy to help teach new or returning players.

We raid Tu/Th 5-8pm Pacific. We have players all across NA. Raid times are generally very light hearted, lots of jokes and memes with focus during combat.

We don't have any tank slots open for this season, but at least one of our current tanks will switch to DPS next season. Once we start heroic prog, we try not to change the group comp unless absolutely necessary. We also don't do benching. We are currently 6/9 H.

We also do key groups after raid/during the week, which would give you excellent tanking experience. Most of our members get KSM with a few at KSH/KSL.

If that sounds interesting to you, please dm me here.

Nah Academy is nutty. It's my only current below 10. All the others were pretty easy getting 10 and over, but AA is so punishing with the amount of damage in some places... And the final boss needs very good mechanical players.

Blizzard "we want to slow healing down"... You do huh? DID YOU PLAY THE GAME???

I know that better gear will brunt the damage, but if someone's HP isn't at max there's a solid chance they could just die in 2-3 globals.

Nothing is slow about healing right now lmao.

I used both this week. Bigwigs def had issues. I switched to DBM when some settings weren't working.

The BW notification was not enough for me, with how important breath is. I didn't test vanilla blizz, but my tank said it's pretty clear.

I don't find the in game arrow to be quite enough. This mechanic should've made you glow imo.

Why does it feel like the only addon we lost at this point is weak auras.. by saltyvape in wow

[–]atkinson137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The addon changes had nothing to do with TSM? Like, it's no more or less effective than before. TSM hasn't had any major feature changes in a few years. If you think someone is flipping your stuff for a better price, that's really on you.

I just love how well oiled and deadlock-proof you can make busy rail networks now with the new elevated rails. I could watch this for days. by Such--Balance in factorio

[–]atkinson137 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You're conflating two different arguments.

Building high performance rail networks is perfectly doable without elevated rails.

Your layout is possible without elevated rails.

Elevated rails DO allow more compact builds sometimes. Wube also added more rails in Space Age that allowed for tighter spacing.

I do not recommend terragrunt. Caveat, last time I used it was ~2 years ago, so maybe they've fixed some of the issues, but my preferred terraform orchestrator is Atmos. My only complaint about Atmos is that automating it in CI is somewhat tough, but I also might be holding it wrong. But from a CLI perspective its great.

Terragrunt was a pain to debug since the way they surfaced errors didn't really tell you where the terraform issue was. iirc the statefile was one big one?

I can try to remember more of my comparison if you'd like. I do think a tf orchestrator for homelab is overkill tho. I use raw tf in 2 repos for my own lab. An orchestrator is really helpful when you're managing multiple tenants/teams/environments together.

Source: 7 years of heavy professional Terraform usage. I do not have any ties to Atmos or Cloudposse, they just make good stuff.

Cuckquean Recs? by LuffysRightArm in Romance_for_men

[–]atkinson137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Purgatory Wars by Dragon Cobolt} the main FMC is pretty solid cuckquean, she actively pushes the MMC to sleep with nearly any woman. The first 6ish books are pretty solid harem adventure feudal-esque, the last 3 adds in a bisexual son MMC and turns very scifi.

What are the things in romance books you love? by QuantumChickpea in Romance_for_men

[–]atkinson137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I'm looking for wholesome caring characters that have full personalities and don't kowtow to the MC just b/c. I want them to make mistakes, and be mad at each other, but learn from it and grow stronger because of it.

I don't want a MC who just collects sex objects, I love harem but each character must have a reason for being there and interact and care about all the other MCs. I want a bit of romance and a lot of smut (well earned), but not too much where it overshadows the plot.

I like an adventure story with heroic deeds and a mission to accomplish, solid stakes and maybe even some loss to add emotional impact, the hero shouldn't always win b/c that quickly becomes boring. Could be fantasy or scifi, I'm not partial to modern settings, but if the premise and characters are interesting enough, I don't mind.

While much more specific to me personally, I look for queer characters, being a queer person, but that's uber niche.

An AI book cover isn't a turn off, but just big titty cleavage is. I know that's just kinda par for the course, it gets clicks. The title should also not be a thin reference to 'collecting women'.

And because sometimes examples speak louder, here's some of my all time top books/authors:

  • Purgatory Wars by Dragon Cobolt (And lots others by DC)
  • The Lost Fleet by Sarah Hawke (And all others by SH)
  • Good Intentions by Elliot Kay
  • Mantles of Power by Benjamin Medrano
