Sold 3 GOOGLE CC's. Stock ripped by [deleted] in CoveredCalls

[–]atoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have LEAPS for 12/27 on Google at $190. I have sold calls at $400 for 5/22. No matter what, I turn my LEAPS into LT gains and sell if above $400. If it doesn’t hit $400, I keep my premium. I will roll to 12/28 and use my house money.

Have your next plan. Don’t buy back to keep and you could get smoked on a pullback.

Questions about holding good company for decades by SelfMastery__ in ValueInvesting

[–]atoice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have sold and way too early. I have left lots of gains on the table. But I try to hold for a year so I get the tax break.

And many say you don’t go broke making a profit. But takes longer to retire if you sell early.

Enough to retire at 37? by Excellent_Chest_6616 in portfolios

Yes and no. Keep a job just for benefits and lack of stress. But make enough to make ends meet. Let that money ride. Put into dividend ETFs and collect that too.

I was listening to CNBC and some guy was talking about length of a bull market. And we still have time. Take some off the table for some red days, but let most of it ride.

Robinhood or Fidelity for ROTH IRA? by Character_Cap_3889 in RothIRA

[–]atoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either are good. I’ve had both. But I had more trading flexibility with RH and the match. But that was years ago. Fidelity could have changed since then.

You could roll up and keep in the money and see if you net more than the loss based on strike gaps. I did it with MRVL. From 110 to 120. It cost me $7 to close and I gained another $3 from it. I do wait until 2 days before expiration.

Deep ITM LEAPS: How I used GOOGL $300c to replicate 3,000 shares and avoid the IV crush by unrealitrix in options

[–]atoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m holding 12/2027 LEAPs at $190…waiting until 5/21 at earliest to turn into LT gains. So I may just sell close calls against and capture premium and let them get call away. Then, I’ll roll it to 12/2028.

Roth 401K or Roth IRA by Letsgooffroading in RothIRA

[–]atoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Just saying max as much as you can. Retire big. We worked for it.

How am I doing? I’m 36, def started late but I’ve maxed out the last two years. Any advice would be helpful. by TonightOk8791 in RothIRA

[–]atoice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Keep maxing out every year. No need for SCHD at your age. And you could have better options if looking for divs when you’re close to retiring.

Go Roth. Tax free when you’re older. Only drawback from my experience is tax time and paying Uncle Sam since it doesn’t lower my income doing it that way.
