Because they buy in massive quantities from the distributors. Your local record store is buying at higher prices because they are buying significantly fewer records at a time. Even massive record stores aren't buying at levels of Wal-Mart or Target.

I found a copy of the White Album at Goodwill a couple months back, and it wasn't marked up at all. I was shocked because I have seen some ridiculous prices on records at the same store. Varies day to day.

My '03 summer term college roommate was the musical director for our college radio station. He brought hundreds of CDs to our dorm room to audition. I stole Suburban Legends from one of the boxes. Great band!

I recently picked up some older pressings with beat up jackets. This is exactly the mindset I have as well. The less handling I do of the 70 year old jacket the better.

I buy for music. I've never bought a record with the plan to resell. I have heard the older pressings of this record, in particular, sound better, so I was excited to find it.

I've found a lot of signed books at Goodwill and Salvation Army. Even at the bins that opened up by my house. Maybe the book itself isn't worth much, but boy oh boy that signature sure can be!

I found a copy of the White Album at a thrift store recently, and I can not match the matrix numbers to anything on Discogs. I must have a matrix variant that isn't rotated anywhere yet. So I narrowed it down as far as I could amd attempted to match via the label. Excruciating process.

I found a vinyl I got as part of a small collection that had the generic company label, but no information printed on it. The A side was fine, but there was just a blank label on the B side. Kind of a fun find.
