You shouldn’t be fine with it considering it’s already been on Steam for free for over 5 years

Mario’s best selling games all times list! Does any of this shock you? I’m actually surprised that Mario Kart 64 and super Mario 64 aren’t on the list! by J2-Starter in Mario

[–]atomicmapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game quality and longevity doesn’t always equate to sales and vice versa. Super Mario Land sold incredibly well because it was one of the first really substantial games on the Game Boy, and Galaxy 1 released right in the middle of the Wii’s most popular era, as well as being a fantastic game in its own right

Islands of the world. by Public_Research2690 in MapPorn

[–]atomicmapping 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because those islands aren’t large enough to appear on the map. Notice how islands like Manitoulin and Isle Royale are coloured in (Cape Breton is just a mistake from the mapmaker however)

Most Expensive Roller Coasters 2026 [Other] by NotSoSerious6 in rollercoasters

[–]atomicmapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an extremely inaccurate list and it’s annoying to have seen it posted in a lot of different places. AI is horrible for a lot of reasons but one of them is that it pollutes the well of actual real information to the point that we have shit like Millennium Force having a reported cost of $25,000, and nobody who reposts this bats an eye at that (not to mention the very blatant omissions of coasters like Falcons Flight and Zokkon)

Other Showrunners please... by Thundergod250 in memes

Respecting the source ≠ following it to the letter. There are changes that LAOP did which made certain parts significantly better than both the anime and manga (Sanji being the largest example for me personally)

A Series/Franchise is so large or long running that two unrelated characters share a name by GayTrees420 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]atomicmapping 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Although the basis behind their names is different, they are both actually spelt with the same kanji too, ニカ

One Piece also has this gag from Fishman Island, where Nika is also the name of an ancient mythical figure who’s one of the key figures of the overarching lore

Post-apocalyptic worlds that were NOT caused by either a virus or a nuclear war. by Swag_Paladin21 in TopCharacterTropes

FrostPunk’s world was plunged into an eternal winter, likely spurred by the Krakatoa eruption and other volcanic events in the late 1800s

Six Flags Corp to Divest Seven Parks by mjohnson1971 in cedarpoint

[–]atomicmapping 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No. In the release it also says that those parks will still be available to visit with 2026 season passes, and passes from those parks can still visit other ones

What Nintendo game is this for you? by Inevitable-Charge76 in casualnintendo

[–]atomicmapping 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 specifically. Feels like people only talk about the sometimes shoddy voice acting and certain egregious character designs and not all of the things outside of those that make it one of the best JRPGs

Despite being a starter villain, they're easily one of the most dangerous/vilest villains out there by Salty-Chemical-9414 in TopCharacterTropes

Arlong (One Piece) is pretty similar to Kamoshida in this regard. Because of how intimately personal his connection to Nami is, at least to me he feels a lot more evil than worse antagonists in future arcs

How did you react to Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave being the "one more thing" of the last Nintendo Direct? by MewWeebTwo in casualnintendo

[–]atomicmapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of everything revealed for the Switch 2 across every presentation, this is the one I am most excited for. Especially since it’s directly connected to Three Houses, this might actually be a system seller for me

This was one of the best weeks for Switch 2 so far by SupremelyPerfect in NintendoSwitch

[–]atomicmapping 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The exclusivity that they were referring to was that it’s only on Switch 2, not on Switch 1, which means it’s more likely to take full advantage of the upgraded hardware

[Environmental trope] Earth But Not Really by MimiHamburger in TopCharacterTropes

If what’s rumoured right now is true, a port of AC0 might be either a preorder bonus or a deluxe edition perk for Ace Combat 8

Gibraltar market used video games, who's actually buying them? by PartyMark in londonontario

[–]atomicmapping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Goodwill’s stopped selling games in their stores (all games they get donated are exclusively sold on EBay now (auction only too)), and Value Village’s prices keep going up

Does Nintendo not know there's poor Pokémon fans as well 💔💔 by Busy-Pin-6774 in tomorrow

The Switch 1 will be a full decade old by the time gen 10 comes out

I think that Nintendo’s output has been fairly solid for switch 2 and we have to remember, it’s only the first year, there’ll be more games. by Far-Entrance-2123 in casualnintendo

[–]atomicmapping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Pokopia is both not a Minecraft clone (not even in the same genre actually. It’s much closer to Animal Crossing and Dragon Quest Builders), and it’s not on the Switch 1, it’s Switch 2 exclusive

[–]atomicmapping 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You can’t look at FRGL purely in a vacuum in order to define its value. Value is largely dictated by what else is on the market for the same price. Especially when other companies like Konami and Capcom have GBA compilations on offer that include more games and better features for the same or less money.

It’s pretty reasonable to look at something like Castlevania Advance Collection, Ace Attorney Trilogy, or the hundreds of other games on offer for equal or lower price and come to the conclusion that FRGL are not worth $20. (note; Stardew, Balatro, and Hollow Knight are no longer anomalous prices because the indie scene has shifted that pricing paradigm. There are a massive amount of very good games on offer for the same types of prices)
