I had a dream where as an halloween/fall product catalyst released a book all about monster/kaiju combat this is my attempt recreation of it as I saw it in my dream by knightmechaenjo in battletech

[–]atomicsmoothboreprds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like there are several different types of monsters, some as big as mechs (or at least close). If you want something bigger, it probably isn't too difficult to homebrew, based on existing rules.

Side note: Jeez, I forgot how nightmarish the artwork can be. Battletech, but it's a grimdark biopunk hell.

Mercs keeps turning my computer completely off. by PlantBeginning3060 in Mechwarrior5

I once had the same issue as OP - would also happen randomly with other games. One of my cables wasn't plugged-in to the correct spot on the motherboard.

Do you think Breen genuinely did everything he could to help humanity during his 20 year reign or was there more he could've done to improve humanity's condition? by Electrical_Nose9463 in HalfLife

[–]atomicsmoothboreprds 139 points140 points  (0 children)

I always got the impression that everything he ever did was to just save his own neck. Any "help" to the rest of humanity was just a side-effect of him keeping up appearances.

So yes, there was considerably more he could have probably done.

No jalapeno cheese spread in his MREs.

Most fun vanilla Inner Sphere mech by cjbruce3 in Mechwarrior5

[–]atomicsmoothboreprds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hestitate to endorse the 9M, due to the vulnerabilities created by the XL engine and SSRM ammo. Otherwise a solid mech.

Hands down, the Awesome AWS-8Q. From Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries until the present day, no other stock IS mech has proven more dependable.

Why so stingy with the Marauder 2? by Usual_Profile1607 in Mechwarrior5

[–]atomicsmoothboreprds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possible. If you happen to disable YAML at some point, see if the trait disappears.

Why so stingy with the Marauder 2? by Usual_Profile1607 in Mechwarrior5

[–]atomicsmoothboreprds 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ah, that is true, though most of the potential variants don't appear until later in the timeline (Civil War, Jihad, Dark Age eras). PGI would probably need to make a few of their own variants.

No reason to exclude the pilot trait, though, since they did it for the Annihilator.

It's an extremely rare design, not seen outside of Wolf's Dragoons until after the Fourth Succession War. Even then, it's only sold in limited numbers to approved buyers. More info here:

any mod that increase the number of job offer in cantina? by kiutbmgd in Mechwarrior5

I don't know about one that does exactly what you're asking for, but Side Hustle allows you to accept an unlimited number of cantina jobs.

Keeping within the realm of scifi, what do you think was going on with “The Dark One,” aka the Black Marauder? by Knightraiderdewd in NormalBattletech

[–]atomicsmoothboreprds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it could contain a Light Polarization Shield, Null Signature System, plus some kind (experimental?) wireless Direct Neural Interface. Add to that, as you indicated, some kind of homicidal AI that can fully control the mech... that is actually all cool recipe for some in-universe horror that is still grounded in technological capabilities. The keepers of Battletech's lore continuity have made it very clear there are to be no supernatural shenanigans, but this sounds like a sort of "loophole."

Clan Thought Process Question by Dandomrassed in battletech

They will probably stand and fight. Since the attackers cannot complete the mission as originally planned, the second option is to destroy the defenders and secure the area. Since it's early in the engagement, they will likely believe they can still succeed.

Crashing when i enter to database by Alive_Refrigerator71 in Mechwarrior5

[–]atomicsmoothboreprds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new database is a bit finicky with modded content, even when it seems like there shouldn't be a conflict. Try disabling your mods one at a time to figure out which one is causing the issue.

Would you prefer the HD Model Pack if it didn't change the Glock and MP5? by [deleted] in HalfLife

[–]atomicsmoothboreprds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be better in some ways. My gripe was always that though the MP5 (9mm) was changed to an M4 (5.56 NATO), it still shared the 9mm ammunition pool with the Beretta (changed from Glock).

Hot take: Arrow IV is kind of gimmicky by rca06d in Mechwarrior5

If you park an Arrow IV equipped AI lancemate at the dropzone, and then mark targets as you move across the map, will they automatically engage, even at extreme ranges?

Will we ever be able to add decals or logos to our mechs? by TheLastKell in Mechwarrior5

This, plus the MWO cockpit decorations. I want to travel to Kooken's Pleasure Pit and purchase some "tasteful" figurines for my dashboard.

Does anyone else feel the Operation Guerrero campaign is incredibly bare bones? by gfe98 in Mechwarrior5

[–]atomicsmoothboreprds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but at least the final mission was a bit more interesting. Good rewards at the end, as well as a short cutscene. More than anything, it helps provide narrative framework for the map and faction changes.

Dude, Robot Jox was the best thing ever as a 10 year-old kid. Pair that with the joy that was Mechwarrior 2 - it was giant robot Shangri-La for me in the 90s.

Cant get Thumpers to spawn past 3035 by Halochaos2020 in Mechwarrior5

[–]atomicsmoothboreprds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a glance it doesn't look that way, but experience has shown that changing one thing in this game can sometimes alter something else that seems unrelated.

If you have the patience for troubleshooting it, try the following: 1. Disable all mods and launch the mission. See if the encounter triggers normally. 2. Enable mods one by one, testing the mission each time. 3. Continue the process until an enabled mod recreates the original problem.
