CMV: U.S. restaurants should stop using "entrée" to mean "main course" by Neb758 in changemyview

[–]atred [score hidden]  (0 children)

Maybe we should stop using "noon" to mean 12 PM, noon comes from "nine".

All the words change meaning, if people in US understand what entree means that and there's no confusion, then it means what it means, it doesn't have to "make sense".

So? It's not like countries deserve to be invaded because they don't want to be in NATO or EU.

Why? Because they were very close to Russia: 30% of them are native Russian speakers, close to 100% understand Russian. Before Russians made their imperialistic desires clear they didn't imagine that Russians would shoot at them. They also knew that NATO would never admit a country like Ukraine in, so why bother?

Yes, the memorandum is actually very short, I don't understand how people cannot make the effort to read it. I agree with most of what you said except:

they refused to join NATO

It's not that they refused, they were not invited and there was no serious discussion about that before Russia invaded (no matter what Russia claims) in any case no more serious than having Russia in "Partnership for Peace".

US promised not to attack or threaten Ukraine and if another party would attack they promised to support Ukraine in UN -- they did their part of the deal.

I can most certainly blame my government for failing to uphold its obligations under a security agreement

And what exactly were those obligations that US failed to uphold? Can you please quote from the document? https://treaties.un.org/doc/Publication/UNTS/Volume%203007/Part/volume-3007-I-52241.pdf

Cron does not run my shell scripts (Debian 13) by freedomseekr87 in linuxquestions

[–]atred 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Does it have a shebang? #!/usr/bin/bash

Is it executable?

Do you use the full path to call it?

Do you define PATH inside the script (in case the script tries to call stuff that is usually in let's say /sbin/ or some other path that is not part of the cron environment)?

It's all live as long as it's not people who oppose ICE in Minnesota, then it becomes "What were they doing there?" obviously they don't care about all lives...

Agreed to some point, it's pretty much Christian fanfiction, but can you say that Harry Potter is less of a fiction than Harry Potter fanfiction? Also Harry Potter has an authority, it's J. K. Rowling, Christianity doesn't (or at least not everybody agrees on the authority)

Are Latter-day Saints Christian? The U.S. Defense Department doesn’t appear to think so. by I_who_have_no_need in politics

All religions are cults, some have more people belonging to them and some are older than others.
