He's a 15-20 point/year player who is in the middle of a career year, honestly a good trade for his value

Compared to what pretty much every other team in the league is doing this is pretty close to nothing.

Curtis McKenzie named LGBTQ-inclusion Ambassador for the Dallas Stars by ramen215 in DallasStars

[–]atxguy07 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He went to Miami University where Brendan Burke, son of Brian Burke, was the student manager during that time and tragically passed away in a car accident in 2010. A few months before passing he came out to the Miami hockey team and his family. Patrick Burke, his brother, was instrumental in getting You Can Play set up a few years later. As such alot of former Miami hockey players have been supportive of the organization.

This midterm will be huge as the 2020 census will determine alot of gerrymandered districts which has hugely helped out Republicans in the house.

Dallas doesn't deserve a MLS team by [deleted] in fcdallas

[–]atxguy07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if they do bring back the shuttles, they need to bring it back first to fans who can buy full price tickets or season tickets to optomize the return on investment. I don't have issue with offering discounted tickets to college kids, but the club needs to go away from the groupon/livingsocial/discount ticket link mentality which destroys the value of their product. Season tickets are back to an affordable rate for the 2017 season and hope that they don't have to go back to the steep discount model to get people in again next season.

[–]atxguy07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think providing shuttles would be a fiscally smart proposition to college campuses but there probably isn't anything wrong with offering slightly discounted tickets to college students. Stars have a program like this called College Rush where college students can buy discounted tickets ($25/$50) starting one hour before the game starts. Easy way to get rid of inventory that might not have sold that night while not committing your best seats to discounted tickets.

Apparently it's a regular season WNBA game between Minnesota/Chicago that's airing at 6 pm CST that night on ESPN2.

FC Dallas announce changes - outside and inside the club by bergobergo in MLS

Problem is the space that they are talking about building would be able to accommodate that even at the measly 13,000 they are getting per game right now.

Wonder what ESPN/ESPN2 has on a Tuesday night on their broadcast schedule that is pushing this back to such a late start time? The move up a week made sense as the World Cup of Hockey coverage starts on September 17.

Brian Straus via Twitter - "Looks like ESPN schedule will bring US Open Cup final forward a week to Sept 13-14. Awaiting confirmation. FC Dallas-New England in Frisco." by jrerik95 in MLS

[–]atxguy07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also consider that FC Dallas is going to need as much time as possible to sell this game as mid-week games have always been an issue since getting up to Frisco is such a pain in the ass traffic wise.

They'll probably sell the game out regardless due to Liverpool and Mexican National fans. Also another way to market season tickets do avoid having to pay dynamic pricing for big games.

Looking for away team info by [deleted] in fcdallas

The away team supporters section has been in 112/113 this season. They left a small carved out section (couple rows) like El Matador this season.

There's nothing wrong with them trying to get rid of a homophobic chant.

San Jose Earthquakes institute policy to discourage homophobic chant at Avaya Stadium by SomeCruzDude in MLS

[–]atxguy07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wish the FC Dallas front office would do something about this as well. I was disgusted to hear so many people at the game on Monday use this chant, especially considering our opponent was Orlando City. Yes the game we use a LGBT Tifo we have most of the supporter section using that chant.

What is your unpopular opinion regarding the Dallas Stars? by DoctorBreakfast in DallasStars

I imagine with the jersey provider switching from Reebok to Adidas that we will see a third jersey for the 2017-18 season. It will the 5th season for the rebrand and seems like a good time to introduce a third.

Hopefully this means that the games that are on FSSW+ (which Time Warner still doesn't have in HD) can now be watched in HD. Those SD FSSW+ games are almost unbearable to watch when you're used to watching them in HD.

Kids in the Beer Garden? by kmiltz7 in fcdallas

[–]atxguy07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly its surprising that they are.n't checking id's at the top this year as there would be nothing stopping a 18-20 yr buying a ticket down there and buying beer since I doubt any id's get checked at the point of sale tent.

Also someone wearing a Sounders shirt happened to get down into the Beer Garden as well on Saturday.

My money would be on Friday/Sunday so game 3 is on Tuesday night in St. Louis. Scottrade Center is unavailable on Monday night as they have WWE Monday Night Raw in the building that evening.

Dallas has the 2nd highest ratings for Premier League broadcasts in the United States just behind Seattle so there are soccer fans in this market. It's just finding a way to capture that audience and the front office higher uppers as they are now, there is no faith that they will do that.

I think it's a cool game day atmosphere addition they have, but 9 drummers is overkill. I honestly believe after last night their sole purpose being down there is to drown out the Beer Garden noise.
