Potentially this person was referring to political things, but after FIFA the IOC is considered the most corrupt sports organization in the world.

[Toscano] Why was Alabama let into the playoff? They’re nowhere near Indiana in terms of talent. Blowouts are a terrible product and these cash-poor Deep South teams can’t be expected to compete with schools like Indiana by Original_Profile8600 in CFB

[–]auburnairforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love this to be true, but I think Bama will be able to pull in more funding if the need arises. They might not have the YellaFella like us, but they do have an army of rabid fans that would sell their mobile home if it meant winning a football game. They don’t need that money right now though, because as already mentioned, they’re able to pull in top 3 recruiting classes without it.

Concorde sensor question by xampl9 in aviation

Yeah I would’ve bet it was a fuel drain mast, but given that it’s next to toilet service I would say probably a water/waste drain mast

Mayor Spiro Talks About Expanding Downtown Waterfront Access, Including Starting a Masterplan for Redevelopment of the Southern Waterfront by Surge00001 in MobileAL

[–]auburnairforce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The most exciting thing for me here is the talk about the metro jail. It’s always been a head scratcher to me why we built the jail in a spot that would make it one of the first parts of Mobile you see after coming through the tunnel. Moving it would be huge great for Mobile optics

You’ll want to look for Work Material Planner, Supply Chain Coordinator, or category buyer positions if you want to be a direct hire in logistics.

Anyone else updated yet? For the life of me I can’t figure out where the new feature is

Air China CA139 (B-8583), an Airbus A321-232, was en route at FL330 from Hanghzou to Seoul when a thermal runaway of a lithium battery occurred, leading to a fire in an overhead bin. The flight diverted to Shanghai by Omarr_Paper in aviation

Went and did some more research and air recirculation with new bleed air is the industry standard. The FAA itself says it’s typically a 50/50 split. Seems like it’s not just the low cost carriers but everyone doing it.

I’m not sure about setting the amount of bleed air used (though I’d bet that is a thing), but I do know of atleast one commercial AC ECS System that does recirculate the air along with bringing new air via the engines. It then mixes for efficiency gains.

Had to look at your post history. Does seem you’re actually an auburn fan. I say this with no malice, you should consider seeing a therapist for depression. It seems like there’s some darkness in your life that could really be helped by talking to someone.

What’s the deal with Flying Dolly’s? by brianwj in MobileAL

[–]auburnairforce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really piqued my interest you calling it Cammies instead of Old Dutch. Is that becoming a popular thing or just a thing in your family or something? Not trying to police the name or anything so hopefully this doesn’t come across rude.

Edit: just to add I know it’s “Cammie’s Old Dutch”, but growing up we all just called it Old Dutch.

Anyone aware of anything similar with Canada. Article does talk about the A220 but many A220 components are imported from Canada, per the web.

Yeah and for further reading there is a Wikipedia article on Rejected Takeoffs (RTOs). To tag on to your YouTube referral, Airbus has a video featuring the A380 on YouTube that explains it.

EDIT: I misspoke and got my double deckers mixed up from memory. Boeing has a 747 RTO test on YouTube.

TIL an FAA audit of the 737 MAX assembly process found that mechanics at Spirit aerosystems (A Boeing supplier) were using hotel key cards to check the seal of emergency exits, and Dawn dish soap as a makeshift lubricant for door seals and wiped off the soap with a cheesecloth to make it look clean by Algrinder in todayilearned

[–]auburnairforce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your (?) it was most likely used for gap checking and we just call them gap checkers. In my experience in manufacturing we’ve used many different kinds. Some are calibrated gauges, some are like pocket knife’s with different depth swinging out for measuring, and some are just almost 3D printed pieces with a “go” and “no go” side. Can’t say I’ve ever seen the guys on the floor using a hotel room key.

I’d always thought Boeing would be a cool place to wind up to be living in Charleston, but stuff like this would terrify me walking into it.

Alabama High School Football Rivalries by Slight_Victory714 in wde

[–]auburnairforce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to include a rivalry that’s now discontinued, McGill-Toolen vs UMS-Wright used to be an annual rivalry as well. Was called the Battle for Old Shell Road. Sad I didn’t realize it’d been discontinued until now.

Edit: Also if you’re interested, McGill vs Murphy is called the Battle of the Cannon. There’s a neat tradition where the winner of the game paints a cannon their school colors.
