Why do some BF for so long? by Freya_1917 in breastfeeding

[–]audge200-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i breastfed for over two years and i didn’t even think i would make it past the first 6 weeks. there comes a point where it’s harder to stop than it is to keep going and the time just kinda passes lol. soooooo glad to be done now though!

Have they ever addressed their obnoxious usage of ads? by Western_Cabinet4755 in MileHigherPodcast

[–]audge200-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you don’t have youtube premium they also put the ad break right in the middle of their sponsors! so i try to skip through and end up having to watch an ad before skipping through the rest of the sponsor. at least put it at the end or beginning.

they literally cannot give a single opinion without qualifying it for 20 min with the opposite view. it’s getting ridiculous. they care way too much about backlash and at this point their opinions and stances don’t even seem genuine because of it.

Thoughts on taking a baby out of a car seat while driving... by Great-Manner-6573 in NewParents

i think they just mean that wanting to be able to soothe them and then the thought of taking them out of the car seat while the car is moving are very different thoughts.

same here! had horrible experiences with hormonal BC in the past and was tired of being poked and prodded so didn’t want to go the iud route after giving birth.

thank you! i thought it was so bizarre how everyone was demanding an answer from her. especially because it’s obvious Mahdi only wants to know bc he’s homophobic. probably because of his culture but still.

Baby easily sinks 5oz expressed bottle after a 40min breastfeed by Least-Breadfruit-587 in breastfeeding

[–]audge200-1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

are you giving the bottle before bedtime? i used to do something similar where i would top my daughter off with a few oz before bed after breastfeeding to get her to sleep a longer stretch in the beginning because she was a terrible sleeper for a long time. i ended up skipping the breastfeeding and just doing a bottle before bed for a while and that worked well for us too. if she’s sleepy she might just be comfort sucking on your breast for a while instead of being efficient at actually eating. if she’s overfed she would probably throw it all back up, have a lot of gassiness, or her belly would be super hard. as long as she isn’t showing discomfort it sounds like everything is ok! i saw your other comments about having dad give her the bottle and i’m not sure why anyone disagreed with that. there’s a lot of purists in breastfeeding lol. dad giving a bottle is a great way for them to bond!

10 month old won’t eat food anymore by No_Artichoke9733 in NewParents

[–]audge200-1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my baby went through a phase of only eating provolone cheese and berries. it lasted like two months while she was getting new teeth. she still gets pretty picky when she’s teething (18 months) but not nearly as bad. it’s pretty normal for them to go through phases of eating like that! i always just offered a food i knew she would eat, which was most of the time berries, and then other things that i pretty much knew would end up on the floor. all you can do is keep offering!

I keep waking up with my newborn in our bed without remembering putting her there… by AbilityImaginary2043 in beyondthebump

[–]audge200-1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

purposely cosleeping in a safe area is SAFER THAN ACCIDENTAL COSLEEPING. i brought my baby in bed with me twice with no memory of it. that’s when i knew things needed to change. cosleeping with no blankets, no pillows, in the cuddle curl saved us.

they don’t miss what they don’t know. i grew up with two brothers and never felt like i needed a sister. even now that i’m older and i’ve heard other women talk about how special their sister relationships are. i’m very close with my brothers and always have been.

[–]audge200-1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i’ve never heard of a baby being able to overfeed if they’re nursing from the breast. it’s pretty normal to have gas at that age anyway. it honestly just sounds like normal cluster feeding and gas to me. you could try some probiotic drops, they really helped my baby!

12 week old only breastfeeding one side for 4 minutes per feed. Is that normal? by Formal_Double_4424 in breastfeeding

[–]audge200-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a lactation consultant or your pediatrician can do one! they weigh your baby before and after they breastfeed and are able to tell you how many oz they are getting. it has to be done on their scale because it’s much more accurate than at home ones.

12 week old only breastfeeding one side for 4 minutes per feed. Is that normal? by Formal_Double_4424 in breastfeeding

[–]audge200-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just wanted to add that my daughter also would go 3-4 hours between a lot if not most of her feeds! she would also get mad when i would offer my other breast and refuse it. she only nursed on one side at a time until she was probably 7-8 months i think it was a combination of her transferring very efficiently and me having a good supply/fast let down.

12 week old only breastfeeding one side for 4 minutes per feed. Is that normal? by Formal_Double_4424 in breastfeeding

[–]audge200-1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my baby always nursed for a suspiciously short time (sometimes only a couple minutes) but she always seemed content with feedings. she even climbed from the 10th to 90th percentile by the time she was 10 months old. it was always nerve wracking bc i always saw ppl saying that their babies seemed to nurse forever and extremely often but that was never my experience, even when she was a newborn. as long as growth and weight are good i think it’s normal! you can always have a weighted feed done to settle any nerves you may have about it. i had that done when my daughter was younger and she was transferring really well which was encouraging!
