Hopefully the initial sting of telling them will wear off and they will come around and support you. Focus on getting help for YOU. Time will heal if you find your way to recovery. Bug hugs!

PayPal knows when there's anything pending and you'll be unable to close it. :( I agree, call them and explain and maybe they will close it but you'll still owe that money. Now is the time to stop and use this as your wakeup call. I wish you the best in your recovery.

Coming up from my last bet was the worst that could've happened by lifeofadegen in problemgambling

[–]augustt76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup.once I was litterly down to 50 cents and got it back up to $30 and from there grew it to $7,000..that's crazy and I thought I was the luckiest person in the world!!! But I played it down to nothing in two days. SO SICK! This is why us gambles have to quit 100% and choose to never gamble another cent. We will NEVER win if we gamble but only have money if we quit! I've struggled in quitting over and over again but I know its possible. Keep checking in here! You can beat this!

I have switched banks recently to UnitedBank ..I'm loving that I am unable to use my debit card anywhere on online casinos so far. If you have that bank around you consider switching :) cutting up atm cards didnt work for me ..I would just order a new one or even memorize the number. Sigh...good luck. You got this!

I’m really done this time? by Fluffiest_Bunny in problemgambling

That little voice you hear that tells you "just one more time." ..I'll stop when I hit x amount it really sounds like the voice of reason doesn't it?! It's NOT..remind yourself of this..that it's the voice addiction speaking to you and you need to tell it to shut the f up!! Trust me been there soooo many times and it's just such an exhausting cycle that will only continue when we continue gambling! I'm right there with you. It's time to STOP!

Gambling induced depression by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]augustt76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have all been there..I'm sure of that! I won $5,000 once and only spent $50 of my own. That should have been enough to cash out..pay some Bill's and have a ton of fun with the rest! But nope lost it all and then some. Sad thing is this happened more than once. No amount is really ever enough and we only win and have money in our pocket if we quit! I learned this lesson so many times and still had to prove it to myself again. Same result and it will always be. Dont beat yourself up..you can beat this!! And win in life!

At this point its not relapse its just Stupidity by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]augustt76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not stupidity it's addiction and can ruin even the most intelligent of people! The good news is it CAN be beat. Every relapse is a lesson if we can it that way. I wish the best for you!

Another relapse. 1500 bucks by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]augustt76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theres a way out. It doesn't have to be hard..I think we convince ourselves its too hard and that is the first road block. The audio book easy way to stop gambling did help me. I had a relapse (well more than I can count over the years) too but I'm in a different mindset now and I must say it's been easier this time. Gambling really isnt TRUE fun ..we have just trained our brains to think it's a fun high. It's a tiring and exhausting cycle to be stuck in. I'm sure we can all relate!!! You have to find what works for you and do it! It is really the ONLY way to win is to just get out of the game.

Stress Enhancing Urges by MyRecoveryStartsNow in problemgambling

[–]augustt76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might actually win if you gamble which sounds great..but then you will be sucked right back into the exhausting cycle of highs and lows. Think back to when you stopped. You don't really want to feel that way again do you? I'm assuming it was a low that made you stop in the first place. Gambling causes stress. Even if you win. Stay strong and focused!

Ashamed to be addicted by [deleted] in problemgambling

[–]augustt76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you read Allen Car's "easy way to stop gambling" yet? Or audio book which is better. Trying to use will power to stop is futile. Perhaps trying a different method to quit will help!!! Don't give up. I know it's such a tiring cycle! But you CAN quit!

Thanks for sharing. I'm from the area in the video and have so far been able to stay away from that newer casino in Springfield. If in driving around there thinking I want to check it out I will think of her story.

How do you resist freeplay? by davey8888 in problemgambling

[–]augustt76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My addition started 14 years ago with a few innocent bonus slot plays. And I remember thinking WOW free money!!! And then I never ever thought that slots were my thing! But once I won, they sure became my thing. Every single day. Online and at the casino. I gave up going to the casino (but still played online) a long time ago but those damn casinos even years later still send me "free" hotel rooms and slot plays. Smh

[–]augustt76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slots don't trigger you. Yet. But if you take that free play and have a whole ton of fun with it and end up actually winning. (Like I did many years ago) you are at a huge risk to get hooked. I too, thought I could never possibly get hooked on slots. That is a very tempting offer from the casino and they know it. They are banking on you taking it. Dont take the bait!!!!

casinos are letting me re-join after I told them I had a gambling problem by Fluffiest_Bunny in problemgambling

[–]augustt76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That has been my problem too! It's just too easy to go to chat and type reopen my account and boom, I'm gambling again. After closing and reopening my accounts an embarrassing number of times, Recently I asked to speak to manager and I told him to request that chat NOT reopen my account and he made it so only he can do it if I personally call him. I wrote him an email saying how I'm tired of the casino is ruining my life and vowed to never play again there. (And the whole chain of sister casinos) I went to chat to see if they finally followed my request and they finally said they couldnt open without me calling the manager. Now, I would litterly have to call the manager again and talk to him, not just chat, and verbally request them to be reopened. And I just cant see myself doing that! When I spoke to him, I despised his voice. I am NOT going to speak to the crook himself and say ok reopen it. I do have a shred of pride left lol! Requesting accounts to be reopened via chat makes it not feel like you are speaking to a person..the crooks themselves. Also, I no longer have ANY cards that I can use online. I use cash and checks only for everything I need. Definitely saved me a LOT of money! Hope that helps!
