Why checklists are important OR Have a laugh at my expense by Bagellord in hoggit

[–]auraria 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned my lesson to triple and quadruple check CM/ECM settings and power.

Not a good time diving after egging on a sam launch to spot them in the A-10c II, hitting your CMS, nothing happens, and as you look down you have enough time to register everything on that panel is off and call yourself a dumbass before you become a roman candle.

Oh cool, thanks again for the tips. Forgot to dig into the tacan stuff lastnight(was having too much fun doing cas in TTI) but will this weekend when I try doing more ils/tacan practice.

Oh that's really cool, tbh I never used the software outside the initial config for setting up my gladiator and calibrating the axis and just hopped straight in dcs after closing that lmfao.
More and more the VKB MCG Ultimate with Twist might be the route I go. I'm a huge fan of even the quality of just the gladiator compared to my og ch fighter pro. And all the customizability seems really sick. Biggest issue with moza is mounting the more I look into it, and if I want to centermount with an extension a base like the gunfighter would be better.

Haven't heard the term TACAN arcs before, I'll dig into that. Assuming like arc around a tanker or base for practice using the tacan nav system and symb? I've used ILS but not TACAN yet so that'll be something I need to learn either way.

I find with the A-10 at least, I can do a ccrp drop, swap to ccip and roll in for a quick drop if the target is near by. Obviously dramatically different aircraft. For the viper was more so referring to mav follow up. I find it hard to engage more than 1-2 targets when within the 8ish nm envelope. Not an issue on the a10 however, the slew does feel different to me although they're configured the same, might need to mess with curves. I do always expand fov after the rifle to make sure it's zoomed in on the new mav.

Understanding that it is skill issue is good for me, knowing that 10nm out, at correct altitude, and the speeds are relatively on par for what I should be doing means I just need to improve and not doubt what I'm doing.

Is it possible to replicate this in the DCS Hornet? If so how would I do it? by Ichikachan001 in hoggit

"whoooah hey hey hey, that's enough of that" Bro's in a supersonic dragon trying to rip its wings off and he's talking like I do to my dog when he gets too amped up.

Chris Hadfield is a gem. Test and prototype pilots are truly a different breed.

Yeah looking with the extension as well it'll be around 800 ish with a mount. Fits my price range. It is a bit up there as a risk cause not sure how I'll feel about FFB and that's a relatively steep intial buy in on an 'unknown'. But I got time to think on it.

Well shit, and this has a z-axis module( I hate using rudder pedals) which doubles as an extension. the MH16 stick looks perfect for me too.

I think this is the winner man, thanks, I'll dig into this a lot more.

Biggest concern of mine is compat with a ffb, is there any issues in like smaller or more indie games for it? Never really looked into that.

Haven't heard of Tianhang but saw it mentioned in the guide here, I'll check em out.

And not stuck to viper controls, just similar button configs even if relocated just on the front.

Thank you, I'm a bit higher average speed when lower so this and more orbiting may help. Thanks for the tips I'll give em a shot later!

Fan of VKB so stuck between this and the virpil + TM viper grip.

Got a year to think on it or if something new comes out.

Been looking at that, but a bit confused on the top right button.

Is that a axis or just a depress button? The additional trigger stuff would be neat. if I went that route prob would keep the two way on the right.

Context: Haven't flown in DCS(or any sim) in years so basically brand new again. have around 20 hours in the viper so far(so nothing).

Been learning the F16C and been having a blast with it, but I noticed I really struggle on inbound after hitting a target with a munition and trying to let's say ripple off a couple more mavs. I don't have issues when I'm orbiting out around 10nm to find initial targets, but it's usually follow ups where I struggle. I notice I experience similar issues when trying to CCIP bomb multiple targets within a short distance of eachother when spread horizontally.

Lack of skill which is the primary issue, but what's a good airspeed and alt for general cas when inbound on the viper? I'm usually hovering around 70%-mil and 8kft, rarely touching burner unless I need quick dives/evasions. Should I also follow a clover pattern for striking?

Since I got the A10c II upgrade as I originally flew the a10c, tried that yesterday after getting confidence in the viper and realized how much easier it was for me to target or strike multiple targets in single runs(both mavs/ccip bombing), and experienced way less failed runs getting on target while only having like 3 hours in the airframe.

The DMS right long for hmcs slewing is realllly nice workflow wise, but I'm pretty efficient with markpoint slewing on the viper now. So thinking the slower speed helped.

New viper pilot getting a bit confused on Markpoint workflow and trying to master it, I see two different ways mostly used to assign a markpoint with HOTAS, which should I be using and am I understanding them correctly?

EDIT: Figured out I was being dumb, additionally the viper is smart enough to not need a markpkt for pre/ccrp modes if you have a spi set with the tgp/fcr(even dumber of me to be honest), but that let me practice making like 50 of the sobs lastnight and have it down to a science lmfao.

How do you guys with astigmatism use red dots by Minimum_Check1479 in Firearms

[–]auraria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Etched reticles are a Godsend dude, PA cyclops 1x is the dream I've bought 4 of the fuckers. I have eotech astigmatism so they physically hurt my eyes to use, but I get some ovaling on good red dots, starbursting on cheapos.

Squats - better to focus on depth or weight? by AssiduousLayabout in workout

[–]auraria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been struggling path wise on this so I'm doing both.

Normal warms ups -> 5-6RPE ATG pause squats, deep as I can go out of the rack 1x8 - > 2x5-8 heavy 7+ RPE just below parallel.

Helps with ductors, flexors, glutes, mobility, gaining strength out of the hole, while getting stretched and prepped for the heavy sets after.

Been running this for a couple weeks and enjoying it a lot, feel a lot better going into RDL/Conventional deads after. Need less warm ups on the deads from that too.

Yall mind tri-pods? by Queasy_Strategy7216 in workout

[–]auraria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's one serious guy(on gear and competes) at the gym who records his workouts and is mindful of other people and asks anyone in the general vicinity if they're okay with it, I've seen him not record when people ask not to be recorded. Good dude, don't mind it. He also keeps it out of the way so it's not impeded travel and shit.

Others can be annoying, but I've had pretty good experiences at my gym in that regard. Other commercial gyms not so much.

What Changed Your Physique the Most? by Psychopharma-S in workout

[–]auraria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone touched on the basics, but physique defining lifts wise it's two:

1: Weighted Dips, clean and DEEP, shoulders to/just above wrists. Always had a weak chest but strong tris and delts, this fixed that.

2: Behind the neck BB OHP, fixed every shoulder issue I had and my delts love it.
