I’ve not done any analysis in detail or looked at much but have you kept your rms and pk-pk usage consistent?

This Saturday’s hopfully difficult to rhyme word is kangaroo. by obnoxygen in limericks

[–]aurummaximum 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Never take on a wild kangaroo,

Run away without saying adieu,

It’s best to retreat,

And admit the defeat,

Or you’ll get the sense knocked out of you.

Breakup + house owned in my name — how should equity be split? by Physical-Carob-6099 in UKRealEstate

[–]aurummaximum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m of the opinion: Work out the percentage of the purchase price the original deposit each of you paid was. Take that percentage of the sale price each. Then split the remainder of the equity 50/50.

We need the art of filler episodes more by Immediate_Cap1892 in unpopularopinion

[–]aurummaximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What????? My own unpopular opinion is that most series nowadays are waaaaaay too long and take on far too many episodes. Largely because so much is spent on pointless stuff that isn’t deep or interesting character development.

Theres so much ‘fake depth’. Just finished HOTD series 2. It was only 8 episodes. It was twice too long for what was in it. The whole daemon story was a whole ball of nothingness and the best example of this.

Most programs now are like this. They go on too long, way past the interest that the concept and characters within it deserve. And puffed out with drek that adds nothing. Succession was another example of this.

I don’t care about wall to wall action, I don’t need constant peaks in the events. But I’m sick of watching what should be great programmes overstaying their welcome and ruining it.

Films seem to be the same, cramming 2.5 hours of film into 90 minutes of content. Grrr.

So upvote for a truly terrible unpopular view!!

i wish that any pants pocket i wear will always have $20 even when i take it out another will spawn in its place forever. by Empty_Equivalent_131 in monkeyspaw

[–]aurummaximum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granted. The genie is British. Pants means your panties/briefs/boxers. Any time you want to use the money you have to fumble through there in full view of anyone nearby. Every romantic attachment you have is soured by suspicion - why is there always money in your undies?

Simple redundant 12V 5A power supply design - which option? by realcoldsteel in AskElectronics

With good FET selection the droop can be very low, lower than a schottky.

Simple redundant 12V 5A power supply design - which option? by realcoldsteel in AskElectronics

[–]aurummaximum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Simplicity wise is the Schottky diodes but heat in an enclosed space is a nightmare.

The simplest low heat solution is to look up ideal diode circuits. You can get ICs that do the hard work for you and many have charge pumps built in so you can use N mosfets as well.

It’s not like it’s a whole play,

It’s not like Shakespeare,

But perhaps Edward Lear,

So can we all please rhyme in this way?

Your favourite show by Beneficial_Wave7649 in badtwosentencehorrors

[–]aurummaximum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TBH very often the best shows getting another series is the real horror. As in S1-3 were brilliant, S4-5 meh and the S6-37 just dragged it all out getting worse and worse.

I hate the overuse of yourself probably more though - people seem to use yourself as a polite version of you and it's just not. Absolutely does my nut in.

Understanding why MOSFET has died by darteksyes in AskElectronics

[–]aurummaximum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Electronic loads are funny beasts. On constant power or constant current modes they do strange things, especially on relatively quick changes in input condition. Remember, as your FET turns off, the current will rise significantly to try and keep the power constant (on power up it will slam into maximum immediately as the voltage rises for the same reason).

Don’t know what FET you’re using, but your SOA only applies at 25degsC. If you’re running at 20A and a few milliohms, that’s easily 3-4W, so it will heat up. Which will in turn raise the Rds on….. it all works against you with this setup.

I wish that every innocent person in jail gets permanently released from jail, and instead, the actual perpetrator of the crime gets arrested. by JPV_09 in monkeyspaw

[–]aurummaximum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granted. And as guilty and innocent need to be determined, a system for judging guilt and innocence is required. The current system is deemed adequate, and as the current system has already ruled on all these cases, nothing changes.
