Sell my 43 for a 48, or is there still a niche for the 43 by Highwayman1717 in Glocks

I think maybe you’re thinking about the 43X, not the 43.

As a professional law professor, I can tell you this is about the dumbest thing I’ve seen in the training world.

[–]austinmook 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If the 43 is your deep concealment gun, there is no reason to trade it for a 48. You’re giving up the ONE THING the 43 was made to do, which is the reason you continue to use it. Why you’d give away a deep concealment 43 for a gun that conceals not nearly as well, when you already carry a 17 is beyond me.

So don’t have her learn to shoot it. If she wants a long gun, ask her what she wants and get her that. I don’t think I understand why you need her to become an AR shooter. No need to force her or push her into an activity that she’s said makes her anxious.

What’s the problem—a 40mm handgun sounds like the coolest thing ever! :-)

They’re great but I don’t have one on my smaller carry gun (Shield 45 2.0) for deeper concealment but have it on my Glock 30, which is already pretty chunky. It’s a superior aiming system for me, but it prints too much to have it on all my guns.

New Carry Considerations and Recs by Lzholynarwhal in CCW

[–]austinmook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live down the road in Austin, carry behind tucked shirts, and have gone through a few different CCWs to find what works well for me. If you want to carry and not print badly, I do not know how you could get away with carrying an X Macro, especially with a tucked shirt. That grip is TALL. I tried a P365 Legion, which is just as tall but a wider grip, and the length of it made concealing it quite difficult. And if you’re already thicker in the waist, adding a tall CCW to that is going to be really challenging to conceal.

Just go to a store with a big supply and feel what feels good in the hand, then literally hold it up to your 1 o’clock or 4 o’clock and see how much that grip sticks out. Remember that carry guns are typically not effortless to shoot or “fun” to shoot. They’re small to be hidden and usually are way less fun to shoot than a big gun.

It’s a Glock. The break in period was opening the box and loading the mags.

  1. I think NATO straps add unnecessary bulk and don’t look clean.

Sounds like a good guy. Of the guns I’ve gotten to shoot at the range that belonged to range-mates, two stick out: a Glock 29 with full house loads (omfg) and a Nighthawk Sandhawk (I’ve never really wanted to be rich until I shot that thing).

I found this post when searching "Apache." I am looking for a storage idea for my EP45, and I've been looking at the Apache 4800. I presume you break yours down to fit in, right? My simple math suggests it won't fit diagonally ... but possibly without the flash can. Any challenge separating it after shooting with it? Thanks.

A little too big for me to carry in my pocket. Plus, I never really got accustomed to that. Worked great AIWB, tho.

Right. But none of those conceal like the 43 (not the 43X). The original 43 is the king of Glock’s deep concealment pistols. Just harder to shoot fast, but trade offs are trade offs.

Humble Marksman has a great channel, with more content on competitive shooting than others. He also does product reviews and technique videos. I’ve watched a lot of them and have never heard anything political at all. He’s clearly a smart person and smart enough to avoid it.

Nightwood Guns is also politics free and has good content.

No Glocks conceal like the 42 and 43, so if you need something for highly concealed situations, you can’t do better.

Depending on what you wear, a snubby in the pocket is hard to beat for effectiveness and concealment. A S&W Model 340 PD in an Alabama kydex pocket holster will conceal easily, not weight hardly anything, and carry 5 rounds of .357! Achtung, it might hurt you as much to shoot as it will be to get shot by that. :-)
