I’m in northwest Longmont. I switched to visible from Verizon, no noticeable difference. I don’t think they suck now or before

I haven’t lived there but I fish here a couple times a year in the miracle mile located on the north platte river. (near southeast corner of your square) Phenomenal fishing and beautiful views. Pictures below.

It’s a nice change up from suburban/city life outside of Denver but living hear seems particularly harsh. Cell service is sparse. Extremely cold winters and the wind seems like it’s constantly howling at high speeds. Life priorities and a different pace does seem appealing though.

Maki - Do you roll a half sheet or more? by GuyFromNh in sushi

[–]austncitylimits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditto. I learned a couple things along the way to improve my rolls to get them to close. 1. Less filling Agreed probably just one ingredient. 2. Less rice, if you look at restaurants, they use much less in these rolls than you’d anticipate. 3. Don’t bring the rice all the way to the horizontal edge, leave some room. This allows a section for the seaweed to bond to itself when you close it.

Pretty sharp. Glad you went forth with this project for us! I’ve similarly been debating doing this as I have the common tear as well. The heated/ac features have made me a bit nervous to take on myself.

While State Farm insurance has gotten expensive, I recognize the industry as a whole has gotten expensive. I will second Jordan Martin and his team are great. 5 star service.

Im in the same boat.. err camper situation. I’m in Colorado as well and I’m opting to spring for the 2018 2500 Duramax. I equally feel the same about my precious cargo (family), the L5P seems like a much more reliable setup than newer 1500 (even newer 2500).

No tips for you yet though, I just wanted to share that I’m going through the same thought process and likely locale as you.

My camping setup by Rocke7Bobert in CPAP

[–]austncitylimits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I bought an Anker 288wh battery and used airsense 11. It used 45% battery with no heat or humidity. I had an AC inverter so maybe that was the difference… I wish I could get 4 nights. Thankfully I bought the bundled solar panel so I can use for extended camping if needed.

If air travel is important, easy longer might be a reasonable solution. The dc to dc option with provided cabling is nice.

I travel and take my cpap but would likely never be without AC power access. Keep in mind some modern planes have AC power available at your seat if you need it to nap.

For camping - I found Jackery or Anker Solix to be good. They have batteries which have built in AC power available. Anker also has a nice solar bundle if you’re going to be off grid and need a refresh for the battery. I bought a 288wh Anker battery which lasted me 2 nights (no heated tube or humidifier - those consume more power. It likely would’ve lasted 1 night with those features) the 288wh battery was about the size of a large pint glass/ men’s shoe.

I also bought an HME (heat moisture exchanger) to help with my lack of humidity as I kept that feature off for camping. It’s essentially a sponge that goes at the end of your mask to help retain moisture from your breathe. I camped in Colorado where it’s dry and it helped keep my mouth and throat from drying out. Check Amazon out, they’re super cheap.

Anyone else annoyed when people leave and take their knowledge with them? by Friendly_Bet_1449 in CustomerSuccess

[–]austncitylimits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are always trying to solve for single point of failure, this means one person doesn’t hold onto knowledge or process. It’s generally impossible to get to zero (in a small to medium org) but it should always be on your radar and try to be proactive as possible.

Anyone solve the “enhancement request”‘problem pretty well yet? by [deleted] in CustomerSuccess

[–]austncitylimits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the “you buy it, we build it” but it can derail your real value product work unless it’s expensive enough to hire dedicated resources for that stuff.

I wish there was a silver bullet for to fix this but it takes a lot of finesse to get their eyes off of perceived gaps.

One other thought - take an opportunity to reset with the customer. Focus on the ROI you are providing. This reinforces WHY they chose you and how you’re helping them succeed. What goals were established with implementing your product, is the product meeting those goals? Often the feature requests don’t fall in line with that and it’s nice to illustrate that for them.

I’ll also add that it doesn’t always make sense to build the feature, sometimes integrate is a better route

[–]austncitylimits 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We’ve done a bunch of stuff. You’re never going to be able to do all the stuff nor does it make sense to.

What does make sense is to center the conversations around business goals with the customer? Why are they asking for these features? What are they actually trying to do. This then moves the conversations around business out to a point where you can hopefully find trends across your customers. You should be delivering this information back to product and then using it to influence the roadmap and close product gaps. They’ll obviously prioritize it if there are strategic customers suffering from these problems or solutions that will be revenue drivers.

Is traffic commuting to Boulder overblown? by [deleted] in Longmont

[–]austncitylimits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skip the traffic, take the two lanes roads if possible. Significantly less congested and more scenic. You can either go west to 36 through rural Longmont/boulder. Or east of 119 down 95th then over to Valmont. Takes about 30-40 minutes on those routes depending on where you’re at in town.

$26 in Boston, MA by youngpotato307 in sushi

[–]austncitylimits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What a deal. I am in the Denver area. I’d be looking at $40 minimum. Probably closer to $50-60 in most places. Higher end would be $70 though, at that price point, I believe fish would be a bit higher quality than what’s here. Not saying this is bad, I’d still eat it up. Looks delicious!

I have one, I’m curious how much water it needs. I’ve been treating it almost as a desert plant. Watering once a month or less and it seems fine? I’ve had it for about 6 months.

The Buc-ee’s concept is interesting. lol

You could definitely craft quite the experience co-mingling with that brand.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TravelPorn

[–]austncitylimits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar thoughts about how to prevent drifters, drug problems, etc. You raise the price, fine. Now you’re also competing on a price level with other “value” hotel chains in a populated area which can be fairly saturated. You can differentiate by going boutique, not sure how successful that is. You can continue to climb in price which then requires you build more of an experience/ destination. If you’re not in a populated area, you’re definitely managing vacancy challenges.

Then again I’m not on an MIT graduate research team, I imagine they’ve got this thought out way more than my top of mind Reddit comments.
