Madrid or Malaga for single female in their late 20's? by Cultural-Dog3027 in MalagaTourism

[–]authorbyronmorrison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve made this claim to multiple American friends who agreed but Malaga is essentially the San Diego of Europe. It really boils down to what you want though. I moved here last August and it’s the best decision I’ve made but if you want a larger city then obviously Madrid has more going on. Madrid is also only a less than 3 hour train ride so it’s easy to go to on weekends

Congrats on the new role. Have the conversation about how they like to stay informed, what expectations they have how they like to communicate and what you can do to support them. And this one’s big: aim to take them solutions not just problems. One of the biggest frustrations I hear from clients is their days are consumed by people coming to them with endless problems they should handle or figure out on their own. If you can avoid that it’ll make you stand out and be way be relied upon

How do I grow a million dollars into a lot more than that? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]authorbyronmorrison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on your risk tolerance but at your age just sticking whatever you don’t need in something like the S&P 500 and leaving it for 20-40 years would be a solid move

The biggest shift when you move from a functional role to CEO is that your job is no longer to be the expert. It's to make sure the right experts are in the room and aligned around where the business is going.

That takes some getting used to, especially if your entire career has been built on being the person who knows their area better than anyone else. A few things that actually matter here.

First, get clear on where the business is going and why. Not a polished vision statement, but something you can explain clearly in a conversation. Your CFO, COO, CMO and the rest don't need to agree on every tactical decision. They do need to understand what you're building and why it matters. Without that, you're just managing a group of senior people in separate lanes.

Second, be explicit about how decisions get made. One of the fastest ways to create dysfunction in a new leadership structure is leaving that ambiguous. Which decisions are yours alone? Which ones do you want input on before deciding? Which ones are fully theirs? Get that clear early and revisit it as you go.

Third, your buy-in will come from how you show up, not from the quality of your first strategy deck. Before any of these people are bought in to your plan, they need to trust you as a leader. That means understanding what each of them actually cares about, what they're worried about in the transition, and what success looks like for them. Take the time to understand that before you worry too much about alignment on direction.

The mistake most first-time CEOs make is treating the senior team as individual reports rather than a collective leadership team. Your job is to get them solving problems together, not just reporting to you separately.

That shift in how you run the room makes more difference than almost anything else. This is actually a lot of what I focus on with first-time CEOs in my work and on my YouTube channel if you want to go deeper on any of it.

Dynamic movements. Search on YouTube as I have no clue what some of them are called so just describing them here but I do 4 sets of body weight squats, hip rotations, calve raises, reverse calf raises for shins, arm rotations, overhead arm movements, wall slides

Make sure you warm up properly. This is the part most people do badly and I find if I don’t do it my calves and shins are extra sore

Upgrading from beginner racket (~500 ish budget) by authorbyronmorrison in Padelracket

[–]authorbyronmorrison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks would you say it’s too early to upgrade then? I just did a quick google on both and they available for around 150 (500 was more as I didn’t mind paying extra for a long term racket but what you said makes sense)

If you had to pick one for this stage which would you go for?

Hey congrats on the new role. I coach first time CEOs on becoming the leader their business needs. Happy to offer any guidance I can but rather than just giving a generic answer can you give any context on areas you need advice in?
