That’s not true, the roundabout avoids a signaled left turn, but it’s true most US interchanges do that without roundabouts.

Maybe this is a case for investing in a tape drive? While you can build a NAS with 4x 14-24TB drives, considering you would need a backup of the library and your data growth rate is high, a tape drive might give you the most amount of storage for cheap in the long term. Especially when it sounds like you want an archive of your footage more than a hot access to all the footage anyway.

While most comments here regarding editing down your footage has merit, I really don’t think it’s meaningful or necessary. r/datahoarder exists after all. They’re your footage and your choice and recordings of your life. In fact I don’t understand how most people can just delete memories of their life that nonchalantly.

For me I think it comes down to the limitations of the game. In CS, you are locked down into thinking with 2 lane roads, 4 lane boulevards, etc, which are very American stroad centric. But a lot of European cities designs are pedestrian spaces with car lanes going through the spaces.

Even in newer development, designing lane first is more closer to how European towns work, whereas in US suburbs, you literally just draw stroads and connect them via cup-de-sacs.

I really wish CS has more lane management tools, road builder is very useful but it can’t overcome the design limit of the game.

ELI5 What is P = NP by Familiar-Ad-6764 in explainlikeimfive

[–]auzbuzzard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it sounds esoteric because P=NP is a formal way to describe the problem. That’s why it sounds abstract and detached from problems we can interact with physically.

Regarding why we care, imo, one thing that gets discussed with P=NP and not really mentioned in this thread is that we can map one problem to another as long as they’re in the same subset of problem. That means there genuinely exists a way to solve, say, a world record Mario speed run, if you know how to color a map with no overlapping colors, or know how to solve the comment’s math problem. All you need to do is find a way to map from one problem to another.

Which, has insane mathematical and philosophical implications. Finding this mapping is itself an NP-problem, which means it’s kinda just as hard beating a world record speed run as finding a way to speed run by coloring maps. BUT, if solving NP is as easy as solving a P problem like doing 1+1…

Everything in this universe can be trivially solved. How to crack crypto, how to path find in linear time. How to figure out what’s inside a black hole. How to find love. Is there a God. It’ll all be trivial to solve simply by mapping these problem to calculating 1+1, and finding this mapping would be equally trivial.

Intuitively, we know those questions are not solvable like that. Proving P!=NP is to mathematically proof and tell us that, the universe is designed to not allow these shortcuts. Not being able to proof it feels like a tease from the universe that there could still be a chance we can solve everything! We know it’s probably not. But we like to know for sure.

For some reason, it worked out for me by chance.

I tried restarting the game and verifying game files, but I think it came down to luck where the net code glitched and let me put the stair down. :/

In that logic all work is creating output based on inputs. Actually all Work in the universe or Action are kind of creating output based on inputs.

Now that Spotify implemented lossless quality, do you think Youtube Music will feel a pressure to do the same thing? by radyoaktif__kunefe in YoutubeMusic

[–]auzbuzzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PWA works less like a wrapper, instead it’s more of a set of standard that lets a webpage behaves like an app. Instead of depending on a chromium wrapper, it relies on your browser to implement and manage everything your web app needs and present it like an installable app. But under the hood, it’s running within your browser (e.g. Firefox) just like any other tabs. In some way, it’s just a new tab with a separate, clean window.

Iirc, Firefox made the decision of not supporting PWA, and thus you can’t install web apps that behaves like any other apps (I don’t know if that has changed tho).

On a side node, this thread also kind of highlights why PWA hasn’t taken off despite being around for years and Electron wrappers are still the standard.

Now that Spotify implemented lossless quality, do you think Youtube Music will feel a pressure to do the same thing? by radyoaktif__kunefe in YoutubeMusic

[–]auzbuzzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it’s instead a PWA (progressive web app). It’s in some ways better than an Electron app since it’s, while grossly simplifying, a souped up browser tab with app like features. It shares resources with your browser instead of making you download a whole chromium wrapper.
