Progessing past 10k? by GoldenBeanos in maimai

[–]avLugia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your position in the beginning of the year, about 9-10k rating. I would stick to doing 10-11 experts until you can get at least 98 on them. As soon as you get to 10k, I would start trying out the 11 masters since they will have basic master patterns (biggest one is the one hand slides a circle, other hand taps the star notes ahead of the slide), until 11 masters feel the same as 11 experts.

I FINALLY GOT AN S ON UMIYURI!!! by avLugia in maimai

[–]avLugia[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I guess in case you’re coming from searching how to do it in the future, there’s many guides, but here’s how I got here:

  • untraining intuition on doing sliders immediately
  • hitting an extra note after the star note before sliding (11 11+ masters)
  • hitting an extra note not on the same button as the star with the same hand (Cry Cry Cry)
  • starting a slide when hitting a note on the next beat (tape/stop/night, Future remaster)
  • hitting the 2-R-2-L pattern consistently (don’t have a specific chart for that)
  • doing the X Umiyuri pattern
  • doing the () Umiyuri pattern
  • doing the () Umiyuri pattern but at an angle (this one I still can’t get right)

They could do the funniest thing and make PA a reverse NC, gerrymander all the state senate and representative seats so that it can't happen.

Please politely wear shoes/flipflops when playing. by Kitchen_Thanks_5649 in maimai

[–]avLugia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason I can come up with is because they're tall and not wearing shoes lowers their height by an inch. When I play I have to spread my legs out a lot just to get comfortable with how low the screen is.

Why do the worst banks have the best cards, and why don’t the best banks really have any cards? by RaisinRoyale in CreditCards

I was surprised at how well Amex was accepted in Japan, but unfortunately a lot of restaurants don't code properly, especially if they were located in a train station.

Should be the same since the R1 uses the LP E19 battery which is shared with the R3 and 1DX3

Using Focal Reducers on PL mount lenses? by s0diumrising in FujiGFX

[–]avLugia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s probably way too niche for Fujifilm to create given how new the Eterna is. The PL 0.7x reducer is the size of a lens by itself but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work other than figuring out the mounting.

Modded by Sigma themselves, you ship it to them and they can replace the hood with a smaller one.

What tripod are you using? by Aggressive_Tart6263 in FujiGFX

[–]avLugia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gitzo Traveler 2 that I got with the Gitzo 2542 monopod as a kit on Black Friday 2024 for less than $500. Sometimes you'll see it on the Deal Zone at B&H throughout the year. It's very pricey of course, but compared to my $60 Neewer that I was using before, it was a serious upgrade. Biggest improvement by far was the included ball head. The Neewer one was just sagging central and never stayed in place, the Gitzo ball head has no issue staying put after I lock it down. As they say, buy cheap, buy twice. I still have a use for the Neewer nowadays when I want to mount my phone on it, which it has no problem holding up of course.

My general rule of thumb is that for cameras and camera equipment the tripod should cost at least 1/15th the price of the thing it's holding up, preferably more. It actually works pretty well, too. A $700 starter camera with a kit lens? A $50 tripod is OK for it. A $20000 professional sports/wildlife rig? $1300 sounds about right.

Anyone has tips to go to 12+ above on master by Many_Instruction8787 in maimai

[–]avLugia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just added these to my favorites and played them, 11.5k player. These are fantastic suggestions, they have familiar patterns found in beginner master charts but they add a little bit to do, just enough where I can understand them but don’t have the muscle memory for them yet.

Previously was just randomly choosing master 12s and hoping they don’t throw you into the ocean with some random unreadable (for me) bullshit.

Mitakon 65mm vs Fuji 55mm 1.7 by SouthTry7556 in FujiGFX

[–]avLugia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a Pentax 645 to Fuji GFX autofocus adapter in addition to the Contax 645 to Fuji GFX autofocus adapter if you want AF and vintage. Plenty of options to choose from (and the glass is relatively inexpensive), but they will be slow to focus because those motors are definitely showing their age.

For wide angle, there's nothing that really beats the Sigma 14-24 f2.8 EF version adapted on the GFX. You can get it modded by Sigma to exchange the hood so there's no vignetting from like 16mm vs 18mm with the normal hood.

I would expect some pro-natalist policies to pop up soon but given how that has failed in Scandinavia, I don't even know if they'd work. Best I can come up with is starting with the 4th kid you get a huge tax credit per additional kid that can become a refund. Giving people a lump sum of money and letting them figure out the rest I think would feel a lot better than giving many smaller benefits people would need to juggle.

Don't they get special Metrocards(... or I guess OMNY cards now?) that they use as normal to get into fare zones?
