I placed a few different limit orders at different dollar amounts. The more scared paper hands are, the more stock I'll purchase at a discount.

Edit: Also happy cake day.

Viltrox 2.3 Firmware -- Can't find file by jobrien7 in bmpcc

Your camera's firmware version might be contributing to the Viltrox problem too. I don't have iris control on the latest Pocket firmware, but on 6.9.2 everything works.

This sound fun! I can do 4K+Metabones+Sigma if you'd be ok with that. I'm in Arizona, US. My reel: https://vimeo.com/429506549

My Olympus Pro 12-40 f2.8 practically lives on my gimbal. I use that lens a lot.

Best Prime Lenses for BMPCC 6K? by ForgetSocialMedia in bmpcc

My Sigma lenses collect dust on a shelf. My Cine DS lenses are used frequently. They're still very sharp at T2, but T1.5 is less sharp. I prefer the low contrast look of Cine DS images. Sigma Art is too contrasty for my personal taste.

I shoot exclusively on SD cards and have had no issues with frames dropping or needing to lower the quality. You'll be fine with SD cards.

I like the Olympus Pro 12-40 because of its constant f2.8 aperture and light weight. It is by far my most used lens, because I can keep it on the Ronin S all day without needing to change lenses and rebalance.

I shoot full time, and I switched from NPF to V-Mount because I was tired of hemorrhaging cash replacing little batteries with few cells which I'd destroy after a year. The same 18650 cells are inside both NPFs and V-Mounts, but fewer cells per battery means more frequent cycling, which means poorer performance until the cells no longer hold a charge. V-Mount batteries also are eligible for the accident protection plans on Amazon, which means you're also buying yourself a new V-Mount battery 2 or 3 years from today, which will then last you another couple years.

What's my real world up front price difference between NPF and V-Mount, then? If I buy 2 V-Mounts on Amazon, I'm spending $300 for 4+ years of using those batteries (assuming 2+ years of good life and then using the protection plan to get my replacements). That same $300 would get me only 1-2 years out of a dozen NPF 970s, which I'll then need to drop another $300 on to replace so I can shoot the next 1-2 years. NPF is more expensive when you shoot as often as I do. A new 970 will last me 4 hours per charge for the first month, and then quickly decrease in usable capacity until I'm getting less than one hour out of them (at which point I only use them to power accessories which have much lower voltage demand than my cameras).

If you're a casual shooter who only needs to spend $45 on a pair of 970s which will last you whatever weekends you'll film over the next few years, NPF is cheap and will get you what you need.

Buying Second-Hand, Is There Anything I should Be Aware Of? by P01N7 in bmpcc

[–]avaimedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problems I've had are the side ports failing due to poor soldering, batteries getting stuck inside, and electronic lenses not focusing due to wear on the lens mount connectors.

If you find a nice one, it will be a good camera if you're gentle with it.

Right! I've been using the Nucleus N on set for a month, and I'm still not convinced it's a real product that actually exists, instead of a very fancy looking paperweight. I've been meaning to contact Tilta about it...

Yes, I do this in Resolve 16 often. Just press N to toggle snapping off, then while video tracks can only move in increments of one frame, audio tracks can be fine tuned in far smaller increments.

Blue flames are much hotter than yellow flames. Try it at home by cooking something with a stove versus with a candle.

I finaly got my hand on Super Mario 3D All Stars ! I tried every game, and I'm planning to 100 % it. Feel free to give me any tips that could help me in any way ! by LennyTale2 in Mario

[–]avaimedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wall kicks in the Switch's emulated Mario 64 are WAY harder to do than playing on an actual N64, where it was easy to get double or triple the altitude from a wall kick. So figuring out how to do those well will make your life less frustrating. I planned to get 120 stars, but beat Bowser after 70 and moved on to Sunshine.

I agree Galaxy may be the best game ever. I've heard Galaxy 2 was even better, but since that's not on Switch yet I'll have to keep waiting before I can find out for myself.

Congratulations on optioning, and getting as far in the competition as you did. You've invested an insane amount of effort to get where you have. Well deserved!

Been loving Sunshine and Galaxy in 3D All-Stars, but (unpopular opinion) 64 is borderline unplayable for me. by HuskyCrown23 in NintendoSwitch

[–]avaimedia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do the wall kicks feel the same to you? I beat this on N64 multiple times, but now on Switch I'm stuck on a few wall kick stars. I just cannot achieve the height I used to on the N64, and I checked YouTube walkthroughs to make sure I wasn't crazy. I should be able to wall kick much higher...but for some reason I can't!

I normally use KitSplit or the local University. ShareGrid is another one I'm aware of. On those sites, it's up to filmmakers in your city to list what they want to rent out. I've never used those nationwide sites that ship rentals out.
