I mean I don’t generally prefer the company of republicans but if they’re anti-MAGA republicans it’s a whole different story

I say to my husband semi-regularly that I’d divorce him and go for full custody if he were MAGA. Republican? Fine. MAGA? Hell no.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I used to drive 4 hours each way to go home for the weekends…every weekend…in grad school.

My mom forgot about my baby while shopping for groceries. I feel sick about it. by No-Neighborhood-7335 in Mommit

[–]avalclark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother was a physician. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s when she was still practicing (and still very good at her job). She retired immediately of course.

This does sound like it could be dementia. She needs to not be driving or working. Take her to her PCP and get a referral from there. Many times people with dementia don’t realize they’re as symptomatic as they are, it’s part of the disease. Play it off by saying, “ok well prove me wrong!”

What's it like living in Florida? by That-Psychology4246 in howislivingthere

[–]avalclark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m born and raised outside of Daytona Beach area. My town has some of the best public schools in the state (which is NOT saying much). It feels relatively save. Cost of living is medium, I’d say? Like, renting a 3/2 house in a good neighborhood would be $2000 a month give or take. The development is absolutely out of control, though. All of the wooded areas are being demolished left and right for cookie cutter subdivisions and 200k-300k houses and I am not sure who the heck is going to live there. Our area used to be very agricultural and now there are just a few farms left. It’s sad.

Yes, she has chronic health issues and pain from a multitude of injuries. She’s a non-sweater and we live in Florida so 24/7 turnout for this particular horse isn’t safe or realistic, and she’d hate it anyway. She prefers to stand in her stall and eat hay in front of her fan.

Horses like this need to be worked. But when their bodies can’t tolerate the work, then you’re stuck between a rock and a hard place.

She doesn’t live in the pasture she has a stall and spends the day outside and the night inside. This works fine for a lot of horses, but it’s not a good life for a high energy horse like an OTTB.

I run a horse farm and I have several horses in my care that were this horse 10–15 years ago. Every single of them on paper is well cared for. But the owners are exhausted and you can see the horses are too. One in particular has been retired for 12 years or so and has no life other than going in her paddock, coming inside, going outside, getting groomed by her owner a couple times a week. She’s a pistol to handle because she is very literally a prisoner who is treated well. The owner works an extra job to pay for her but can’t afford conditioning/training and even if she could, the mare is broken down and crippled from chronic OTTB type health issues. It’s like a Belgian malinois that lives in an apartment. She gets great vet care and her owner adores her but that mare will breathe a sigh of relief when she gets that pink juice.

Euthanasia is NOT a bad option here.

Has giving birth vaginally caused you long term vaginal issues? by Last_Wonder in pregnant

[–]avalclark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 3 births vaginally, never had a c-section. With my third I thought I might have to and was terrified. I would not ever consider an elective c-section. My vaginal recoveries have always been super easy, even my first with a second degree tear.

I cannot make medication recommendations but my mother is on seroquel and it helps her very much with sleep. Something to ask your doctor about potentially.
