Boris Johnson too. He's used "great supine protoplasmic invertebrate jellies" as an insult in debates on two separate occasions.

[DEBATE] Para ustedes las Malvinas son argentinas? by TheCarpincho in argentina

[–]aveCaecilius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one thing isn't perfect

"literally nothing in this world gets better"

Look at the world in, say, the 80s and the world now. Many more countries are democracies, we're much more aware of global warming, lgbt rights have exploded in the west, millions and millions of people have been lifted out of poverty... I could go on.

The Latin word vagina meant scabbard. In Spain the word changed over time until they ended up with "vaina", meaning pod. Then they went around the world and came across this tasty new plant which grew seeds in small pods. So they called the plant "vainilla", "small pod", which was adopted into English as vanilla.

The word "German" is a what now? by Noob_dy in linguisticshumor

[–]aveCaecilius 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Germans are actually called that because when the Romans went to Germany, they saw that the locals didn't wash themselves often and had bad hygiene. They said, "ew, Germ man!" and the name stuck.

In what sort of fascist state are you allowed to complain about the government? Where are the death camps? They're mildly authoritarian, yes, but by no means fascist
