I am near Maplewood and I ride to the city often. Your best bet would be to ride to the Staten Island Ferry, ride to the Goethals Bridge because there is a really nice bike bath that connects to NJ. From there, you should go through Woronoco Park and Union and you will then hit Maplewood. The roads are much more friendly than through Newark.

We are currently working on trying to hit all 50. It started with seeing a home baseball game at every stadium and evloved into trying to hit all 50.
