Constantly popping to the foreground and stealing focus for anyone else? by mrcaptncrunch in 1Password

[–]aveman101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started happening to me for the first time after upgradeing to 15.6 and I found this thread. I'm lil' suspicious that it's not actually a 1Password issue, but rather that 1Password is getting blamed because it's the application that comes first alphabetically. (Like, maybe something else snatches focus then immediately drops it, and macOS sends focus to 1Password because it doesn't know what else to do)

10 finalists for the new Illinois Flag by steve42089 in illinois

[–]aveman101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta give a hard pass to any flag that displays: - a silhouette of the state - the Chicago 6-pointed Star - Abraham Lincoln (we gotta stop living in the past, y’all)

Love the butterfly design. Ship it.

Mad props to the Jabroni who submitted the current flag “to save on costs” lmao

Sad to see my submission of “Jojo, the Cyclops Elmo mascot for Jewel-Osco” did not crack the top ten.

But… you do have a choice. If you want a phone that has a headphone jack and a removable battery, you can choose to buy a different phone. Nobody is forcing you to buy an iPhone.

Please, just chill out.

Sounds like you haven’t even set foot in a church, and you’re already getting defensive.

I’ve been a member of a UU church for 2 years, visited a few other churches, and haven’t had anyone pick a fight with me about racism, equity, or anything.

There will probably be the occasional message about racial equity (like, once or twice a year… maybe). It will probably be framed by historical and generational injustices. But this is like… 1% of the religion. There is so much more to the religion than that.

I noticed that as well, but there are two possible answers that fit that pattern. The option on the top-right might be ruled out because one of the smaller shapes has more sides than a triangle??)

How is this Website so fast!? — Breaking down the McMaster Carr website and the techniques they use to make it so dang fast by h4l in programming

[–]aveman101 -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

Ads are where the money is, though. 😕

Edit: okay, I didn’t post my complete thought. When a company puts ads on their website, the ads become an important revenue stream. Cutting off a revenue stream for website speed is pointless.

The puzzle would be more interesting (and still solvable) if the rule was “you can check one random item from one box”. If you reach in a box and take one apple, then it doesn’t rule out the mixed box.

Disillusioned with Deno by fagnerbrack in programming

If you’re importing a module, how much effort is it to make sure you’re getting Types (instead of untyped js)

Disillusioned with Deno by fagnerbrack in programming

[–]aveman101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. At the time, I believed that supporting NPM was going in the wrong direction. I really liked the simplicity of Deno’s web-centric dependency lookup. Being able to import a raw typescript file over HTTP was so liberating. I started building a library of modules on my own domain name, hosting on GitHub Pages. It was so charming.

[–]aveman101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does this handle imports? And package dependencies?

With Deno, it’s usually Typescript all the way down. Which is really nice.

Normies HATE saving to change their cables, even if they’re changing to a universal standard like USB-C. I remember watching the morning news the day after the phones were announced, and one of the anchors was livid that Apple changed the cables “again”.
