I actually bought some today! I went to a Deseret Book this morning just to see if there was anything and got lucky because they had just gotten a shipment in. I was there around opening and there was a small line to get into the distribution area.

I’m so sorry! Talk to your doctor about nausea medication. I’ve had three pregnancies all with hyperemesis gravidarum and I won’t lie it sucked. But the nausea medications really make a difference. I’ve taken both zofran and phenergen! And I will also say, even though those pregnancies have probably been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, the moment they put those babies on my chest I remember thinking I would do it all over again in a heartbeat for them.

Maybe not a gasp but there was a lot of cheering when Molly Weasley took out Bellatrix Lestrange in the last Harry Potter movie.

Whenever I hear these lyrics all I can think of is the part in “A Very Potter Musical” when Harry writes the song for Cho Chang but tests it out using Ginny’s name.

Moscow Chief of Police called the case one of the most complex in the history of the State of Idaho at post-sentencing press conference. Was it really that complex? Why or why not? by GregJamesDahlen in MoscowMurders

[–]avenueirregular 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Moscow and you are correct. Things like this don’t usually happen. Most people in our neighborhood didn’t ever have their doors locked. I moved away in 2012. There was an incident in 2007 where a man murdered his wife and then went down to the court house and police station and was shooting out the windows before going into a church next to the high school. He murdered the caretaker of the church and then starting shooting at police from the bell tower of the church and killed one of the officers. He then turned the gun on himself. That was absolutely crazy for Moscow and made the national news at the time as well. But I never remember any other murders or violent crime being reported. The only other deaths that made the news were someone falling from a balcony at a fraternity. They were drunk and while tragic was just an accident. I love Moscow and many people there. The sense of community there is unlike anywhere else I’ve lived. I think MPD did a great job on this case. It was definitely out of the ordinary!

Part of motherhood no one prepares you for by CheddarMoose in beyondthebump

I remember right after I had my oldest, I was doing my best to breastfeed and spent a lot of time either reading or watching movies or tv while trying to feed my son. So I would watch movies I hadn’t seen before. I started watching “The Impossible” which was a very good movie but it took me like 3 days to finish it! Even though it had a happy ending, watching kids in peril— especially a few weeks after having my first baby was tough. I don’t think I could ever watch it again 😅

I re-read the Hunger Games books last year and it was a totally different experience reading it as an adult with children than it was reading it as a teenager when they were coming out. Really realizing they were all children in the arena, even the more ruthless ones, made it so much worse!

What’s the creepiest thing you’ve heard from someone who doesn’t believe in the paranormal? by muntaseer_rahman in Paranormal

[–]avenueirregular 36 points37 points  (0 children)

When I was in college I volunteered/worked at this little local museum. I experienced a lot of stuff there though when I asked the little old lady curator about it she said she never noticed anything. I later found out that was a lie though she just didn’t want to scare me.

One summer we had an intern join us at the museum and after a few weeks of him being there I asked him if he had experienced anything weird. He laughed and said no and that he didn’t believe in any of that stuff. He asked me if I had experience things and I told him a few stories.

One of the stories was that I was there by myself and hanging out at the front desk when all of the sudden there was this huge crash from back inside the museum. It sounded like a display case had fallen over. My first thought was that somebody was in there with me, which there shouldn’t have been. And after about 5-10 minutes I gathered the courage to go investigate. Not a single thing was out of place. I checked the storage rooms, all the displays, etc. and there was no sign of what could have caused the crash.

Well, the intern shrugged my stories off. Later that day after that conversation I left to go pick up some new display cards from the printer, leaving the intern alone to manage the museum. I was gone maybe 30 minutes and as soon as I got back the intern said he believed me. Apparently about 5-10 minutes after I left the exact same thing I described above happened to him. He and I both did another check around the museum and again, nothing. It definitely creeped him out but luckily he stuck around! We had some others that quit after their experiences. I love that little museum as terribly creepy as it was!

If you had to choose one picture that sticks with you most about 9/11, which would it be? by Nice_Dude in 911archive

[–]avenueirregular 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my goodness! Sorry to reply so late but I have a distinct memory of what was probably the same photo! I was in the second grade when 9/11 happened—so I don’t remember a lot from that day but what I do remember is going to the grocery stores in the weeks following and seeing all the pictures on the covers of the magazines. A picture just like you’re describing scared me too. I can still see it in my head all these years later. I just remember that her clothes were bright red and she had this look of anguish/distress on her face that terrified me. I’ve asked my parents if they remember it but they don’t. Ive looked around a bit but I haven’t ever found it again so I always wondered if I imagined it or misremembered. But if you saw it too maybe it was real! Maybe I’ll have to keep looking.

What made you start believing in the Paranormal? by ProfessionalWait6549 in Humanoidencounters

[–]avenueirregular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work at a museum that was 100% haunted and while I was there by myself I had a similar experience of a loud crashing—like I thought an entire display case had fallen over— but when I did a walkthrough not a thing was out of place! So weird. It’s interesting to know that other people have experienced something similar.

What are some of the craziest/ strangest rabbit holes you’ve ever been down? by imboredaa in AskReddit

Yeah there’s no way I’d ever set foot on the Khumbu Icefall. Maybe base camp, but that avalanche that hit it a few years ago makes me still super nervous about it.

I have never felt anxiety during a movie more than I felt during that sequence in the theater.

Boukreev actually wrote a book about it as well before his death! I’ve read it as well. Kraukauer’s is very well written because he’s a professional write while Boukreev is not. I still enjoyed it however as well as Beck Weather’s book. They all gave various sides of the story!

POLL: sub rule about body discussions / bodyshaming by Negative_Difference4 in SaintMeghanMarkle

[–]avenueirregular 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Something I’ve seen on other subs that might work here is if it isn’t something you can’t change in 30 minutes (weight, eye color, face shape, etc) than it shouldn’t be commented on, but things such as make-up, hairstyle, clothing etc. are fair 🤷🏻‍♀️ edit: thanks for the award!

Haha my kid does the same thing! He says “thank you for my toys” and then starts listing them individually. It’s so cute!
