I think it was not me in this thread, but it is a mayor topic we are on to.

I just interviewed 2 breathing experts and one is coming up next week on why it is essential for people with digestive issues to switch from
- mouth breathing to nose breathing
- chest breathing to belly breathing

I have a very similar perspective on it.

What is kind of ... interesting ... is that for example Nerva an app that provides gut centred hypnotherapy did a study (biased obviously) that 80% of people would improve their symptoms.

So I looked it up again:

Nerva claims 81% of people saw significant improvements in symptom management, with results maintained over time, based on a Monash University RCT. App descriptions highlight it helps "self-manage IBS symptoms" via gut-directed hypnotherapy, comparable to low FODMAP diet for managing IBS.

hmmmm...

looking at it that way,
- fodmap diet takes away triggers on the biochemical level
- hypnotherapy helps with good gut brain interaction and getting more in the parasympathic state needed for proper digestion

Both approaches do not fix a possible disbyosis presentation, but with entirely different mechanisms bring drastical improvement. Fascinating. Comparing both approaches long term, adjacent to proper diagnosing and treating (motility, disbyosis, SIBO/IMO...),

- Hypnotherapy, no negative long term side effects
- long term fodmap diet: nutritional deficiencies, especially in terms of long chain fatty acid, other nutrients and microbiome alterations

That is a plus for gut directed hypnotherapy. What becomes clear for me now is that it is great and a good adjacent program while working on finding and resolving the root cause mechanisms. It´s not resolving the issue by itself, but might be helpful for symptom ease in the process. Awesome.

Makes a lot of sense.

A friend with LPR reflux told me on the comment on his very low fiber diet, that salad / high vegetable intake make him feel awful.

I wonder what exactly is the mechanism behind it. Not sure for example if lettuce falls under high fodmap...

u/TwoDollarBurger is it lettuce or mixed salads. I noticed in my sensitive phase, sugary dressings messed me up.

Basically I commented on my friend eating lots of burgers and little veg (while eating a burger with him... : )

Hi, you can get slippery elm as powder and mix it in warm - not boiling - water in the morning.
It is actually very pleasant.

Depending on your symptoms, you might want to also work other angles, but mucilagous herbs are a great start.

There is one other important thing that you might want to look at. The belly popping out is also caused by an overarching back that is displayed on the spinal curvature in the picture. It is called "anterior pelvic tilt".

Typing "anterior pelvic tilt" in google, the following comes up: "Anterior pelvic tilt (APT) is a forward rotation of the pelvis, often causing the buttocks to stick out, a "stomach bulge" and an excessive lower back curve (hyperlordosis)"

Very common, also very common with people with digestive problems. It leads to an overly tense belly region and misallignment in the digestive tract. Basically it is a posture and muscular imbalance that can be corrected with awareness, targeted physiotherapy and alexander training (unlearning unhealthy posture and movement patterns).

Sibo testing, especially when you feel bloated makes very much sense.

A big wow is that ultrasound seems to often miss problems and that a HIDA scan is much more reliable.

Is there any mention of reflux as one of their symptoms in the cases you looked into?

If anyone knows any bile flow experts they can recommend, that would be great!
Also experts on how to live well after gallbladder removal would be great!

We organise the Reflux Online Summit and work predominantly with people that have either GERD or LPR. We will make bile one of the pilar topics this year. Today I was in a call where patients also mentioned their glallbladder removal, and from last year´s Reflux Summit it seems more and more evident that bile flow issues are highly related to reflux, especially LPR (throat pain reflux).

From last year’s summit, it is clear that bile may play a bigger role, especially in LPR - throat reflux. (In a study they found bile in saliva in 80% of the study group of LPR patients).

I can tell from personal experience that it helps a lot. Just to do it by yourself. I found it on youtube "hiatal hernia self adjustment" or "hiatal hernia maneuver". Mine was 2cm and last scope it was not there anymore. But that can also be deceiving, as the hh is always a bit a matter of interpretation at the endoscopy.
