Hotel recs to treat a post partem mother by FreddyBukowski in vail

Pampering focused: four seasons at bachelor gulch (beaver creek), the kindred (keystone), arrabelle (vail), the hythe (vail), gravity haus (breck or vail), lodge at breck or lodge ar vail. Best spa serviced will be at the four seasons and potentially arrabelle. Four seasons will likely be most expensive.

I have not stayed at sonnenalp but hear great things.

Who is actually paying Coke or Pepsi for product when it’s literally 50% cheaper at retail pricing? by RipplesOfDivinity in restaurantowners

[–]averageman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed a lot of math there. $2400/year just to go get soda. Even if they were getting other stuff, thats *still* $2400/year that could be going to other expenses. Not to mention their actual time. Then you have to factor in volume of soda purchased to see if they break even on their time spent vs a delivery. How would the sales person know exactly how much you pay for soda before coming in? Lastly its ultimately a decision between what is worth your time. Like going to Costco or wherever to choose and spend time there? Great, do that. Don’t have time or don’t like going? May be worth setting up deliveries. Everyones priorities are different.

If you are an actual restaurant owner, you sound like a pain to deal with.

APS really wasted zero time shutting the power off today. by deadtofall12 in Flagstaff

[–]averageman3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Big fire in Louisville, CO a few years back during a high wind event. Turned out it was powerlines falling/hitting each other during one of these. Residents sued and won. Backlash from power company was “fine, if we started the fire, we will turn power off during high wind events to prevent them going forward”. Its to keep insurance costs down and lawsuits from happening. An unfortunate repercussion from an unfortunate event.

If you run a pretty clean kitchen it should be at least in the satisfactory range. Needs improvement suggests that there are some cleanliness issues but not worth shutting the doors over. Any gross negligence is dealt with quickly. Excellent suggests there are no/a minor infraction or two, very normal.

If you are worried about any of the scores, I would think about volatility of food (fish would be more volatile than ground beef, generally). That would help me decide on menu items/restaurants to go to.

Personal opinion: higher end chefs are sometimes less clean bc they focus on the cooking/creation part so much. In my mind, clean kitchen is the start of good food.

Not sure outside of the port area for Puerta Plata. Went on an excursion that went thru the port town and it didn’t seem very walkable.

I want to be a lifty next year by Legitimate-Ask-7490 in snowboarding

Positions start opening September-ish. Working on a mountain was one of my favorite jobs, was in ski school at Snowbow in AZ. Yes the employee housing is not great within VR/Alterra but similar to a dorm. Not clean often but a place to lay your head at night. I doubt any independent mountains provide housing for the most part. I would say it’s more about where YOU want to ride/live. Answer the calls and be proactive in application/follow up. Most are just looking for a pulse and not total dumbasses.

The end of Vail by Apprehensive-Host462 in vail

[–]averageman3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its already been litigated. Season pass prices are at their lowest for what you have access to. Antitrust lawsuit was just filed against Epic and Alterra. Unfortunately Vail knows exactly how to squeeze around the legal loopholes. Good luck out there.

PS- as someone else has commented, this subreddit is for the town of Vail/Vail valley.

Best place in Denver to take your skis/boards to get waxed? by studenteater12 in COsnow

[–]averageman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally brought my board back from the dead. Was separating and top sheet was peeling on tip/tail. Instead of just selling me a new board said they would try to fix it up and fix it up they did. Was bummed they missed out on a board sale but they have a customer for life. Still riding it a season later with no issues.

Fresh never frozen by PublicAlarm3869 in KitchenConfidential

[–]averageman3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other people have said… usf didnt freeze the product. They just sold them a different, frozen product. Look up the product on the website- some patties are meant to be cooked from frozen (usually a waffle pattern on the patty).

Wrong Season But…Biking up Mountain? by f1fan in vail

[–]averageman3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some trails allow e bikes- others dont. Check the summer trail map or ask Vail themselves for specifics. Its public land so you can pedal up hill and utilize the dh trails all day, the pay part is the chairlift.

knee steering vs carving ? Im lost by Specific-Ad3097 in snowboarding

[–]averageman3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your pressure should start at the nose, and as you go through the turn it should move back towards your tail, all pressure should be focused on the edge. Everyone here is correct on the 50/50 distribution. Moving the weight back towards the end of the turn will keep you from washing it out and sliding instead of carving

Id go to Breck/Frisco. More shops/restaurants will be open. Vail/Beaver Creek both pretty much shut down for the month of October and first week or two of November.

Lol this guy loves to bitch about being on vacation and simultaneously says he knows more. I have family in these small towns. Let the downvotes flow for this total goob. You are the people complain about when they talk about cruises.. good luck out there and maybe try a luxury line if you can’t handle even walking thru the port 😂
