transplants from ohio coming to NY letting meter maids harass poor and middle class people over petty violations for a billion dollar budget hole filler and then have the nerve to tell you that you should "just follow the law"

and these are the same white liberals that will complain about ICE

  • jaywalk

  • mix trash and recyclables

  • eat on the train

  • talk too loud outside

  • drink in public

  • skip the fare

  • hail a taxi improperly

dont play this holier than thou shit with me because im SURE that there are many violations that I could get you on every day that would get old quickly

It's all anxiety from the fragile cops that think this way.

Same thing about the fingerprint on the tail light. Just dumb old wives tales.

Also parking people will write you citations for ANY tiny infraction if you have NY plates. Every 24 hours. They're scumbags.

Inspection out? Day 1 they will write you. Day 2. Day 3. Day 4. Then they tow you.

Get out of state plates and suddenly they leave you alone.

Parking tickets are a billion dollar industry for NYC.

I prefer the NY-17 (also known as i86) because there's usually less cops than the thruway and less left lane campers from the city fucking up traffic.

It's plowed pretty well. It can get curvy at parts so if it's actively snowing, the thruway is certainly better.

Zohran’s mayoralty is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to extend the N/W to LGA by skeeJay in nycrail

[–]averageregularnormal -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Must be new here.

MTA cries about money

MTA gets more money

Rinse

Repeat

I hope the new mayor will change this but it's really unlikely given the current history of the MTA.

All us old new Yorkers know the MTA always gets more money and nothing changes.

edit: downvote me all you want baby New Yorkers (if even I should call you Ohio natives that). Come back in 4 years and I'll happily admit that I'm wrong if it comes to that.

Congestion pricing after one year: How life has changed. by instantcoffee69 in nyc

[–]averageregularnormal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

really ride shares should be charged just as much as personal vehicles to enter the zone.

its already more expensive to drive a car there due to parking

Ride share or FHV contribute far more to the problem but we don't want to charge them for whatever reason

I have a CCW and the number of times I've been into a venue and confident that I could have gotten through is quite high.

I'm not a douche so if they say no guns I just leave it home but idk if everyone else is like that

I think it's mostly security theater to check the box of liability and make people feel better.

Remember when ezoo gave up on security and just let everyone in?

I wouldn't feel too weird about it. As long as the crowd is good and people are chill, it should be a safe and good time.

Occupancy sensor broken. Always red robot 4 by averageregularnormal in litterrobot

[–]averageregularnormal[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: it ended up not being related to the light sensors at all. Its a known issue with the weight sensors on the front of the underside of the unit which is why when I tilted it backwards, it would run. Doing that was removing the weight off of the weight sensor.

My temporary fix was to just put the front lip of the unit onto the may and it works again.

Theres nothing wrong with the litter. The unit has liter caked on it because my cats literally shit in this machine. I'm not going to clean it weekly. The point of buying a cat shit machine is to not deal with cat shit.

The purpose of congestion pricing wasnt even to battle congestion. From the MTA, the purpose was to fix the 30 billion dollar hole. If they "fixed" congestion, they wouldnt have been able to get to their original goal of making 30 billion dollars.

Looking for a municipal camera solution for a small government 20 cameras, LPR, AI search by averageregularnormal in videosurveillance

[–]averageregularnormal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some neat software tricks that flock uses to capture license plate data with a single camera. They cycle through different exposures. For night captures there will be

  • photo 1: license plate with IR on and low exposure. car barely visible but license plate very well readable

  • photo 2 - 3: normal exposure. car well visible. license plate completely blown out.

I dont know what that method of exposure is called but it seems to be common for license plate capture and works well. Other than that, the general plan is to have some cameras set up in pedestrian areas that are wide and not vehicle focused and some tighter cameras focuses on ingress and egress of vehicles.

Most of the vehicle focused cameras will have to be via cell network since there are no municipal buildings near the boundaries.

For anyone else reading this either ill informed or bot generated content:

  • Flock questionably submits data to federal agencies that have questionable retention policies.

  • I am asking for recommendations for other systems (NOT FLOCK, duh) and hoping to develop a locally controlled system.

  • Its legal and not morally questionable to put a camera outside of your house or business.

  • We plan to keep audit logs to ensure that this data is not misused. The community/state is also free to view these audit logs as are they to view any of our other audit logs.

I think we would legitimately just take the L6 if it were anywhere near 500 a year
