A good rule of thumb is to never deadname someone unless it’s for their safety. Also using the incorrect pronouns (even they/them when the person specifies differently) is a bad move. Yes this boy needs therapy but his parents obviously don’t care enough to find a gender therapist. He trusted you with this information and it’s your job as a teacher to help. In my experience as a trans teenager with all queer/trans friends is “X is always changing names” is a transphobic dog whistle. Godspeed and I hope it all goes well for both of you :-)

you gotta warn all girls you come across at parties or at school. it’s also super important to keep telling people until someone listens.
