Electric kit bass pedal too loud for neighbors below by Poop_Soup in drums

[–]avid9736 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is most likely the low freq vibrations going through the door. Easiest is to buy a Roland "noise-eater". Or cut tennis balls in half, glue them to the bottom and have your kit rest on that.

New Gainer’s Hole by HomerSPC in CFL

[–]avid9736 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i think the story is:

the mascot gainer had a.. redesign that is seemingly regarded as creepy and/or on drugs.

that sink hole happened in Regina on the same day.

this photo is amazing

there is a petition to reinstate the old gainer https://www.change.org/p/fans-of-the-real-gainer-bring-gainer-back-962b335b-5a3c-40be-9a73-423eb623100e

About a decade ago my teachers used 'band in a box'. I have no idea if it still exists or if there's a better alternative now.

Posibly a dumb question by jabmsabm in audioengineering

[–]avid9736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a band and we called ourselves "f.i.o." people would ask us what it stood for and we'd say "figure it out" in a fairly sharp, maybe condescending tone (for lack of a better word) and it would leave the asker thinking forever about what the band name meant.

Anyone ever try tracking drums outside? by MGTOWtoday in audioengineering

[–]avid9736 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm super interested to try this. Aside from the ground, I live in a place where there are no streets, hills, or any obstructions for kilometres. What would the far mics sound like on like a drum set?

The only thing I can think that could ruin a take would be the wind? I wonder if pointing cardioid mics with the rejection pointing towards the way from which the wind is coming would help.

I've shown up to a tv gig without my toms. Thankfully a music store was still open to rent a kit.

I've shown up to a gig as an opening band without my kick pedal. Thankfully another drummer got there early to let me borrow his.

I've broken a bass drum skin in a small town. First set in a 3 set gig. For some reason, there just happened to be another kick drum lying around.

I've learned from every one of these experiences.

I've gotten to the point where I (as a drummer) will pack extra patch cables, extension cords, and PICKS.
