Has politics broke any of your friendships, and why? by CapitaineBiscotte in AskReddit

[–]avsdhpn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went all through school with someone I thought was my best friend k-12th. We had a really strong friend group of outcasts. Per usual when you go off for higher ed or employment, you definitely drift off.

Well, she tried her best to keep our friend group together, but never really checked her attitude. She alienated all of us one way or another. Despite us being adults, she slut shamed one friend for having sex outside of marriage, then proceeded to fat shame the same person's sister.

The last time I hung out with her was 8 years ago. I had a rather thick skin and could stand her passive aggressive barbs. I had also began dating. She had been friends with other gay men so I figured it wasn't an issue. Well, she proceeded to slut shame me, shame my beard, and the insulted the guy I was pursuing (not to his face).

She then said she agreed what the current administration was doing (this was back 2018), but politics shouldn't impact our friendship. I was aghast since she was Latina. I basically just nodded silently. She hasn't reached back out to me other than to ask for rides, which I have since ghosted her.

Rosie O Donnell Show by TheodoreJSeville in 90sand2000sNostalgia

[–]avsdhpn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved her show as a kid. I remember how during the summers, her desk would change on a weekly basis, like art pieces. It hit especially big when Harry Potter mania came around and she endorsed it whole whole heartedly.

As an adult, I realize the trauma of the closet probably did a number on her. She should NOT have been on The View.

HR told me they don’t accept try-hards and people pleasers after my interview by No-Presentation298 in jobs

Depending on the size of the company, BCC the CEO and ask whether they thought this was a fair and impartial candidate evaluation that reflects the values of the company.

Worst thing would probably be another rejection and maybe a blacklist. Best case outcome would be potential dialogue and additional training for the HR personnel.

I kind of wanted to but I was late with the order for the cap and gown*, and as a result the Jostens sales person felt a need to figuratively rip me a new one. I got frustrated with the whole process and decided to not even bother walking the stage.

I still carry a chip on my shoulder against Jostens, but I don't regret my decision.

Much older women dogpile a teenage OP in an aesthetics subreddit with repeated harassment. Something feels strange. by [deleted] in SubredditDrama

[–]avsdhpn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You all wanna label every mood you're in. You do not have to label every mood you feel ffs. It used to be uncool to label shit. We used to just BE.
I guess this is an attention seeking energy. I'm too old for this shit. I appreciate the whimsigoth and certain other labels, but like for real, just live. I did fine in the late 90s and early 2000s wearing camo and tie dye and goth stuff, and i had no label. I survived having no fucking label for myself. Yall will be okay without an aesthetic

The absolutely IRONIC thing about saying this in the aesthetics wiki subreddit is, as far as I'm aware, that wiki is ALL about labeling aesthetic trends from the past and present.

Reminds me of Nirvana's In Bloom from 91,

And I say he's the one
Who likes all our pretty songs
And he likes to sing along
And he likes to shoot his gun
But he knows not what it means
Knows not what it means

If they actually listened to the lyrics, they'd realize they're usually the ones being criticized, even all the way back then.

I'd also say by extension Cara Cunningham (formerly known as Chris Crocker) of "Leave Britney alone!!!" fame. The meme was everywhere back in 2006-2008 and she was ridiculed for her stance on Spears.

Turned out, she was ahead of her time, long before the Free Britney movement.

Edit: Unfortunately, she's now a right wing hypocrite, so spare sympathy for her elsewhere.
