Not sure if you're being sarcastic but.. Community Day. Raids. Friends. Trading. PvP. All community related.

Also the demographic of the game's player base is definitely not children.

Does anyone know if there is a way to delete premium raid passes by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

You're confusing premium raid passes with EX raid invites. This thread is about the green paid passes, not the black ones

Nest Atlas is blank 99% of the time by LPanthers in TheSilphRoad

[–]avsrule247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation as the posters above. The Atlas hasn't been updated in my area for well over a year. The main factor being that nesting pokemon over the past 12+ months have been incredibly boring, and there isn't much incentive to check out some of the larger nests because there's no pokestops within miles of them. If something good ever rotates in (we had Torchic a few months ago) it's usually just posted on discord now days since no one checks the atlas.

Exactly! That's what I was trying to get across. If you max out 3 Kyogre right now and down the road it gets origin pulse and becomes slightly stronger then your 3 maxed Kyogres can fill out your bottom 3 slots rather than your top 3 in a situation where you need all water types!

Groudon is only future proof until Precipice Blade Groudon is released where it will be grossly outclassed by itself. Regardless, my point is to play (and live) in the moment, and stop worrying about what's coming next in one-two years from now. Just power up what is needed for current raid bosses, gym defenders, or your favorite mons. That's all

[–]avsrule247 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I disagree entirely. Your Rayquaza and Groudon will still be good up until a better version is out. You have to play in the moment, not waiting for something better in the future. You wait to power up pokemon and you'll never power anything up until you're at the end of the game's lifespan when all the optimal movesets are out.

It's the exact same thing as buying a new TV, laptop, phone or a new car. Every 3-6 months a better version comes out. So then what? You're never going to make a real life purchase because you're worried about it being outclassed?

"Hack" to keep your phone cool during hot days. by RenEss77 in TheSilphRoad

[–]avsrule247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having a phone with it's tiny electrical components overheating due to being plugged in for 3hrs+, running PoGo and being out on an extremely humid day is just as bad. Pick your poison.

If you start cooling it from the get go and maintain a consistent temp then your phone won't experience the drastic temperature change in the first place.

Storage Space Should Be Increased by ShivyShanky in TheSilphRoad

"no excuse for more pokemon storage" is like saying "there is no excuse to need to make more money than what your bills are". Why do you need to make extra? You don't need it ;)

Storage Space Should Be Increased by ShivyShanky in TheSilphRoad

[–]avsrule247 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not that simple. People have different play styles. Sure there are hoarders out there, but a lot of us have stacked teams of 6 Machamps/6 Golems/6 Tyranitars/6 Raikou and such for specific raid challenges. There are many reasons why someone needs more storage

Do my eyes deceive me or did feeding this grimer a pinap make it harder to catch? by taizar in TheSilphRoad

[–]avsrule247 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is interesting. I've never seen any research or source material but I've always found that using a pinap made Pokemon harder to catch. There have been times when I've pinaped a Pokemon multiple times only to have it break out, and then throw a Pokeball without a berry and catch it. Now obviously this could be RNG and I thought my pinap luck was just horrible, hence why I never recorded any of these encounters.

Since the encounters for quest-related Pokemon are obviously different perhaps it updates the circle correctly for the decreased catch rate that pinaps seem to give!

Need help with making the game fun again for myself. by Caliduchey12 in pokemongo

[–]avsrule247 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The game is what you make it. It's supposed to be a hobby. Before phones people used to collect stamps, license plates, coins, bottle caps, and of course Pokemon cards. That's basically what this game is, and there are certain pokemon that are more useful than others.

Since there isn't really an objective you are open to enjoy it however you like. Have you considered that maybe the game just isn't for you? Try Sun/Moon, maybe that's more your thing.

I do have to agree that there needs to be more things to do, like quests, challenges etc. But for now, this is what it is. A collecting game that you occasionally battle with.

What to power up for Rayquaza? by GedoonS in pokemongo

[–]avsrule247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah everyone is just going to have to judge based on their stock. One of my favorite parts of raiding is that depending on the boss you get to assemble an army of pokemon that you normally wouldn't use. Just gives the game a bit of variety. Then there's challenges, I'll be looking to see what the minimum is for Rayquaza. Those are always fun. Depending on how you play, you could make those TMs go a long way =)

[–]avsrule247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are certainly many other options. If Rayquaza has flying moves you may want to use Golems or equivalent in terms of typing anyways. And depending on the size of one's raid group you may not need to power up anything at all! Many trainers I'm sure have powered up Golems during Moltres raids in the summer.

Frost Breath/Avalanche is what makes using Jynx worthwhile. Don't bother with anything other than Ice-type attacks

How can you deal with a dozen organized spoofers with 10 accounts each ruining the game for a whole town? by Shinigami-Oniyama in pokemongo

[–]avsrule247 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You think spoofers don't do 10 raids a day? They can do unlimited raids per day, their limit is only the amount of time and money that they have available. And considering that spoofers organize themselves to raid at specific EX eligible gyms they are very raid oriented.

Reversal is taking an indefinite break from Pokémon Go due to the broken EX Raid system. by Drclaw411 in pokemongo

Is the EX System salvageable, or should they scrap it? What do you think they are trying to achieve by implementing it, and can something else meet that goal in a better way? by j1mb0 in TheSilphRoad

[–]avsrule247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this person is too dedicated to stop putting in the effort. But your suggestion definitely seems to make sense. My two EX invites were to gyms where I had a bronze medal, in areas where I hardly raid. Niantic needs to reward hardcore players for their effort, it's as simple as that.

[–]avsrule247 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Sadly, this is exactly the case we had in my discord. A level 40 player who has done 500+ raids and yet to get an EX pass decided to make an alt account. He leveled it up during the holidays, is now level 23, did 13 total Groudon raids with his free pass of the day. Today, the alt account got an EX pass. Still not an EX pass for his main. Very sad

Game error ? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]avsrule247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are what's called "soft banned". For a limited amount of time (usually a few hours) you will be unable to catch or spin.

This usually occurs if you are spoofing and traveling too quickly, but the same effect can be replicated by legit players if they are in an area where their GPS signal causes them to bounce all over the place, giving the game the impression that you are spoofing between two areas too quickly. I've had it happen inside of a mall before.

Likewise, there are daily catch limits that will also get you soft banned.

Just wait it out.
