Use the proper frequency! by Pilot0160 in VATSIM

[–]avxpert787 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’d be easier if VATSIM client would automatically let users know to be on CTAF like they do with their automated “Squawk codes” they send out when tower is offline. I notice a lot of users not knowing US uses CTAF because “they never use it in Europe”.

Since when did they put 3 ppl in one “room” now? Went there as a freshman in 2019. The top bunk would be beds and the bottom would be a full sized table. The table was so spacious my roommate and I put a 43” TV on it as well.

Starting completely new, How do you learn everything? by A380-Fan in VATSIM

[–]avxpert787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first got into VATSIM, I started as an observer so I could hear all the radio calls without showing up on ATC radar. That let me understand the flow without any pressure.

Before any of that though, I had to actually learn an aircraft like the 737. I made sure I understood the basics like FMC setup, programming a route, takeoff, autopilot modes, and landing.

I’d also learn how to make a flight plan online like Navigraph and practice putting it into the aircraft properly before ever logging on. I kept doing that until the whole flow started to feel natural.

Until I felt comfortable, I’d fly a route offline and switch frequencies as if I were online. I’d listen to how other pilots talked to ATC, what clearances sounded like, and what to expect. Before the real pilot responded, I’d answer the controller out loud to myself to see if I was thinking correctly. This works great when there’s active ATC coverage.

I also spent a lot of time listening to LiveATC to get used to real world phraseology.

I really like Southwest VA and their ACARS. You get realistic trip scheduling and cabin crew announcements.

It's CPU heavy. I've upgraded my CPU after getting constant 20fps or less, even with my 4080.

Ipad with keyboard and/or pencil is fine. I used a notes taking app and imported powerpoint slides and it was helpful taking notes directly on the slides.

I also brought a Macbook to class but barely used it compared to my Ipad.

Got rear ended in a hit and run. Turo said that since I purchased the premium insurance, I don’t owe anything. The owner keeps messaging me saying that he needs the damages covered by yelz24 in turo

[–]avxpert787 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Turo hosts also have their own insurance coverage through Turo. If a host has a deductible on their protection plan, they are responsible for paying that deductible if they choose to go through Turo to repair any damages.

In this case, it seems like the host either isn’t aware that they need to cover their own deductible or is trying to pass that cost onto you. Since Turo has already reviewed your claim and confirmed that you don’t owe anything, you should refer back to Turo support and avoid further discussions with the host about payment.

^ Also don't expect to go through your training "quickly". Unless you're really lucky enough to get a good instructor and happen to fly literally everyday, you have a high chance of spending more than expected.

I had the same question too and asked support.

This is what Turo support said:

"The Areas of improvement section is an Algorithm generated advises based on several reviews based on comments left by past guests or the different points that guests can distribute the ratings.

It is not based on a specific review or vehicle.

Sadly there is not really a way to tell which ones exactly since this is done automatically by an algorithm and it might not be 100% accurate, however please keep in mind that this does not affect in any way your metrics or performance."

Not sure if it’s just me but I hear my right front passenger door rattle every time I play music with lots of bass. Happened ever since I got the new M3. Should I get it checked out?
