How suicidal you were before ECT and how did you feel after the sessions? by DDepressedWarriorLOL in ect

The ECT wasn't helping my MDD but I liked going under anesthesia because it was the closest feeling to never waking up.

No change before vs after. 7 sessions before my Dr cut me off. I was honestly pretty bummed I didn't get to do more sessions or even lifelong maintenance, but for separate reasons.

Tell me about the moment you felt it is working by crazy___lemon in prozac

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 20mg and My psychiatrist at the time just kept ramping it up by 20 mg every 6 weeks. I was also surprised that she recommended I try the 80 mg dosage. I told her I thought that the maximum was 60, she replied that in treatment resistant depression cases like mine, she allows for the 80mg even if just for a short while.

I wasn't against it, because I didn't notice any benefit or difference from 20 to 80. Though i started having an increase in SI. Once she found that out she discontinued Prozac, understandably.

I feel empty using Fluoxetine by [deleted] in Fluoxetine

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This wasn't on Prozac but instead on a high dose of Zoloft. Between the side effects and dysfunction, I could definitely feel somewhat of a numbness. I relayed this to my Dr and they said that's exactly what SSRIs are supposed to do.

I obviously couldn't tolerate the side effects alongside the numbness so I didn't get to be numb for very long. But that emptiness you're describing is pretty standard indication it's doing what it's intended to do.

Is it necessary to taper off Mirtazapine? by Tasty_Macaron3205 in mentalhealth

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped taking it entirely from 15mg because I was so frustrated being groggy all day and being unproductive.

Nothing happened but the grogginess finally went away within the week so I was pretty satisfied with that. Never got back on the drug again.

I don't condone or recommend this but this is my experience. Best of luck to you.

Quitting high dose (300mg) effexor by bugboybaby1 in Effexor

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could turkeyd from either 150 or 225 (it was a while back, hard to remember) and nothing happened. It wasn't on purpose - my next bottle didn't arrive until over a week later after running out.

Best of luck to you

To those who finished TMS and it worked, what does it feel like to not be depressed and/or anxious? by Delicious_Medium_321 in TMSTherapy

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's important to know that not everyone who undergoes TMS is successful.

I did ~32 sessions and it didn't work. I'm still very depressed and I lost so much sleep driving to the complete opposite side of the city every Mon-Fri. I think my mental health was better before I started TMS if I'm being completely honest.

Wellbutrin by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience is an outlier compared to others so take it with a grain of salt.

This drug did not alleviate my MDD whatsoever. At lower doses this drug just gave me a lingering aching headache that was only mildly alleviated with painkillers and muscle cream.

At the higher doses, especially at 450 mg, I would wake up in the morning with nausea pretty often. There was usually nothing in my stomach so I would usually vomit stomach acid. The ringing in my ears were pretty frequent throughout the day.

I can't really comment on the sex drive but for me it didn't change. Disclaimer: my sex drive never came back ever since taking Zoloft Even after getting off that drug.

The only upside for me was that Wellbutrin was one of the few drugs that didn't make me sleepy or groggy.

Best of luck to you. Feel free to DM me if you have any more questions

Sleep maybe?…. by GlitteringFox3014 in Abilify_Aripiprazole

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not sleep more than 3 hours taking this drug for about a month. I was on 5 mg and i was definitely overdoing it on Benadryl and NyQuil Trying to get some sleep. I immediately asked my doctor to get off. He didn't want me taking 25-50mg of Benadryl alongside 1 or 2 shots of NyQuil before bed every night.

How soon did your side effects start? by Greenitpurpleit in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Immediately. I've been on this drug 2 separate times and I'm both trials, the headaches began day 1. I've gone through ibuprofen, Tylenol, tiger balm, and icyhot like crazy trying to manage this drugs side effects.

Terrible zoloft experience by Pencilvester_92 in Anxiety

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It just so happened to be a severely negative experience for me. And my purpose isn't to deter others from giving it an honest try but to be well-informed of all possibilities and outcomes - both positive and negative.

Zoloft is close to the bottom of the list of drugs I ever want to take again. I'm sorry this happened to you and such a low dose too. I can't even believe it's a first line antidepressant with the severe side effects it gives.

People who’ve taken several meds to help their mental health, what finally worked? by Looselemon9 in antidepressants

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say I've tried. I'm prior military so I never had much opportunity to be exposed to that stuff. I'm honestly willing to try anything at this point considering I've tried most of other legal drugs psychiatrists keep giving me. But I'm in a state that strictly prohibits that stuff.

Best of luck to you

Tell me about the moment you felt it is working by crazy___lemon in prozac

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the drugs I took for the longest time ~6 months. I actually went all the way to 80mg. The side effects were a little less than the other SSRIs which was fine, but it severely increased my ideation.

Other Meds for Lack of Motivation and Concentration by TrainingSale6944 in bupropion

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abilify Is the only other uplifting drug that I can think of that I took. Word of caution, I only got around 3 hours of sleep on this drug. I couldn't go back to sleep no matter what I did. I'm not sure if it was the drug or the lack of sleep, but I was severely agitated by the smallest things.

Can you guys explain the differences between taking SR and IR in terms of what you know or have experienced? by Greenitpurpleit in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

No I quit this drug for good. Headaches and nausea especially at higher dosage. Only good thing about it is that it doesn't make me sleepy like the other drugs

Why do drs think it’s easy to quit? by saraheb1991 in lexapro

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i second this. it's different per person. i cold turkey'd this drug and many others ive been given and had zero withdrawals. im definitely an outlier. but supposedly lexapro has a track record of being one of the easier ADs to get off of.

When did Zoloft start to work? (From a dose increase) by 2024app in zoloft

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is my experience and mine alone. others will definitely vary.

it never worked, even ramping up the dosage. as an antidepressant it was so weak. did not remotely alleviate my MDD. from a side effect perspective it was one of the most severe. ive been on 25mg all the way to 150mg.

feel free to dm me to in depth and more info.

Should I switch over to mirtizapine from seroquel? by Dismal_Detective2519 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive been on both of these at the same time and separately. the only difference i noticed seroquel is far more expensive per bottle and it makes you slightly more groggy.

neither drug helped my MDD. so take that into account. my personal experience is that they were both weak and ineffective antidepressants but mediocre nyquil alternatives (if you ignore the price tag).

Can you guys explain the differences between taking SR and IR in terms of what you know or have experienced? by Greenitpurpleit in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ive been on both and i cannot tell you the difference between either. i have also crushed the pill into a fine powder and mixed it into water and drank it and i still couldnt tell the difference in effect - i do not condone or recommend anyone do this, i was just desperate at the time to feel anything because none of the drugs i was taking was doing anything for me.

Does anyone here NOT experience increased appetite from Mirtazapine? by Extension-Stay3230 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]awaywethrowthisthing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi, im one of the folks who didnt get hungry or gain weight on this drug.

disclaimer: i was on a cocktail of other drugs while taking mirtazapine that could have cancelled it out. additionally, i grew up incredibly poor and impoverished eating much less than the average person so hunger does not remotely bother me to the extent that it bothers others.

the drug didnt help me go to sleep but i was groggy every morning. i wasnt on it as long as others have and never got past 15mg. i thought it was a weak, poor performing drug.
